This document assesses the harmonization of Ethiopia's national framework with international child rights standards. It finds that while Ethiopia has ratified key treaties and adopted relevant policies and legislation, there are still gaps in incorporating international standards. The definition of a child differs between domestic and international law. Not all general principles of child rights are addressed, and some civil rights and special protections for children are not fully realized. The document recommends further harmonizing Ethiopian law with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and other international standards to strengthen protections for children.
