Before you Blog: Everything your WordPress Business Website is Missing - Trav...Travis Pflanz
PRESENTED AT: WordCamp Kansas City 2018 on Saturday, April 14, 2018
Every time I meet with a potential client they have the biggest dreams in the world about what they want to do with their website, how they expect their websites to function, and all the money they’re going to make – this month! They think they’re SO close… All they need is “a little SEO” to get them over the top.
They’re wrong. 9 times out of 10, even the biggest and most long-standing business website is missing many of the very basic business requirements – both on the website and throughout the business’s online profiles, listings and other assets.
Before you blog for your business, make sure to take care of all the fundamentals so your blog can provide the biggest benefit for potential customers and to your your business.
This session covers all the things that are commonly (and some uncommon things) missing from most business websites.

The document discusses several common myths about WordPress performance and security. It notes that while some plugins can slow a site down, others speed it up or have no effect. Inactive plugins and themes still need updates for security. Revisions and trash do not significantly impact performance. WordPress scales well for large sites. It is used by major companies and organizations, not just blogs or amateurs. WordPress security has improved, but proper precautions like updating plugins are still needed. Function calls are cached so removing them prevents functionality.
Cliff Kapatais provides tips for effective content creation. He recommends having a passionate point of view and knowing your target audience. Content should be created regularly as practice makes it easier. Popular types of content include top ten lists, FAQs, teaching posts, sharing insights, opinions, remixes, videos, crowdsourced content, worst-case studies, and interviews. The document concludes with Cliff's contact information for further questions.

Child Themes, Starter Themes, and Frameworks... Oh My!Julie Kuehl
This document discusses different options for developing WordPress themes, including frameworks, child themes, starter themes, and parent themes. It defines each option and outlines the pros and cons. Frameworks provide base CSS and components but require a parent theme. Child themes are easiest but depend on the parent theme's code. Starter themes give full control but require building everything. The document recommends researching frameworks, gaining experience with child themes on one parent theme, and eventually moving to a preferred starter theme.
This document provides guidance on selecting, installing, and using themes in WordPress. It defines what a theme is and discusses theme frameworks. It offers tips for determining if a theme is responsive, mobile ready, compatible with other browsers, and passes validation. The document recommends sources for finding themes and notes that free themes are not always better, while paying does not guarantee quality. It highlights considerations like support, documentation, and keeping themes updated once installed.

For the full video of this presentation, please visit: https://www.edge-ai-vision.com/2024/06/temporal-event-neural-networks-a-more-efficient-alternative-to-the-transformer-a-presentation-from-brainchip/
Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. This presentation delves into the technical innovations underlying TENNs, presents real-world benchmarks, and elucidates how this cutting-edge approach is positioned to revolutionize edge AI across diverse applications.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

In the realm of cybersecurity, offensive security practices act as a critical shield. By simulating real-world attacks in a controlled environment, these techniques expose vulnerabilities before malicious actors can exploit them. This proactive approach allows manufacturers to identify and fix weaknesses, significantly enhancing system security.
This presentation delves into the development of a system designed to mimic Galileo's Open Service signal using software-defined radio (SDR) technology. We'll begin with a foundational overview of both Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and the intricacies of digital signal processing.
The presentation culminates in a live demonstration. We'll showcase the manipulation of Galileo's Open Service pilot signal, simulating an attack on various software and hardware systems. This practical demonstration serves to highlight the potential consequences of unaddressed vulnerabilities, emphasizing the importance of offensive security practices in safeguarding critical infrastructure.
