COI began working in Unmanned Systems in
2009 and continues to host the quarterly UAS
Working Group. Pictured here is Kennesaw-
based AREA-I, a COI client of more than a
decade.
Unmanned Systems
The Energy Technology team began
working in the CEA industry six years
ago and helped successfully recruit the
first major company, Pure Flavor
pictured here. With the addition of
AgTech, the team broadens the support
for this industry which continues to see
tremendous growth in the state.

Electric Mobility crosses every industry
that the COI team supports. The COI
supports living labs like The Ray to help
demonstrate new technology in vehicle
connectedness, autonomy, energy
storage, and other solutions.
Electric Mobility
The IT team expanded recently to
increase it’s focus in the creative
technology space which includes
esports. Georgia has seen tremendous
activity in this industry and is developing
a program to prepare communities for
growing this talent locally.

8. Atlanta-based company that designs, develops, and
manufactures thermal tape products that use
nanotechnology to efficiently remove heat from computer
chips and electronic devices
Problem:
1. The company needed help to take their manufacturing
operations to the next level.
2. The company wanted to earn Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) certification before full-scall production

CARBICE
9. COI matched a grant from Georgia Tech that allowed Carbice to do
an applied research project. The project had two goals.
1. Develop best manufacturing practices for Carbice’s thermal
tape products to ensure scalability while achieving compliance
with EPA government regulations
2. Implement lessons learned to formulate plans to create a new
nanomanufacturing center at Georgia Tech.
The work accomplished the necessary goals, allowing Carbice to
move forward to commercial production.
Just a few months later, the company raised $15 million in their
Series A round.
