This document contains summaries of several rock samples collected by a student. The rocks represent igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary characteristics. The ages of the rocks range from 20 to 30 years old. The types of rocks identified include quartzite, marble, slate, andesite porphyry, and basalt. The rocks were found in various formations and locations including fields, sandy areas, and near vegetable plants. The student had difficulty identifying the rocks and used resources like books to help in the analysis.

1. Field/ lab AssignmentGEOG 3Sandra Becerra<br /> <br />This is one of my rock collections. This rock represent igneous because it comes from a place that the weather is hot and changes into hot eather. It represents metamorphic because it a transformation rock and it temperature is in a high pressure and it a flat rock. It represent sedimentary because it has been under water when it rains it becomes pedals and is in the water for days. I can’t tell the age of the rock but I look it up online and it said that the age of the rock is about 30 years old. The type of rock is Quartzite and other rocks that where around this rock where like andesite, diorite and gabbro. The formation of the rock is like a circle but is deform. Well I had hard time finding rock until I went to a field and I found few rocks and I pick the ones that I thought would be interesting to indentify but it’s not that easy.<br />This sample represents igneous because it has a texture that tells what kind of environment the rock was. It represents metamorphic because it change in form and even in color but this rock doesn’t have a lot of metamorphic. It represent sedimentary in the way that is a fossil rock because it has about more than 10 year old. The type of rock that I found is a marble rock because it’s white and very shine and a metamorphosed limestone there were other rocks around like gabbros, basalt and basalt porphyry. The rock formation is oval with disfom sides of the rock. The process that I went to find this rock was not easy because there are not a lot of rocks like this I search and found one. <br />-266700-790575<br />This rock represents metamorphic because it change of form but also because of the formation of the rock. It represents sedimentary because it transforms moving fluids. The rock age is about 25 years old but not sure. The type of rock found in the area where very different not all rocks where the same somewhere basalt, diorite and granite.<br />295275-7511415<br />This rock represents igneous because it increase potassium and sodium in the rock. Metamorphic is presented because it a flat deform rock and it could be cause with how hot the heat was and the rock is in the sand that the sand burns you when is hot shoe imagine the rock every year in the hot. Sedimentary is presented because it has deposited in layers as strata, forming a structure called bedding. The age of the rock is like more than 20 years old not sure. The type of rock is slate rock because it’s flat and deform. The rock was found cover in sand and the formation of the rock is like an oval slice in the top right corner.The rock represents metamorphic in a way that the foliation is slaty cleavage. Sedimentary represents this rock in a way that rock cover of the continents of the Earth's crust is extensive, but the total contribution of sedimentary rocks is estimated to be only 5% of the total volume of the crust. The age of the rock not sure but what I calculate is about 30 years old. The type of rock is Andesite porphyry and it was around some rocks that where called diorite and gabbro.<br />This is one of the rocks that I collected and it’s a weird shape. It represents igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary because it has a flat surface in the front and bottom and the age of the rock it doesn’t look that old like 20 years or less old because the rock is in good shape. The type of rock I indentify it has a texture has aphanitic and a composition of basalt. I found it in the field near an area that was plant by vegetables. The area had a lot of sand it had leaves of the crop and it was a warm and cold place. The rock formation is like a rectangle weird look like flat formation. The process that I went through to indentify this rock was that I use the book page 116.<br />
