This document discusses the basics of genetics including different modes of inheritance such as autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, X-linked recessive, and X-linked dominant. It also covers mutations and disorders of chromosomal number, specifically the three types of autosomal trisomies: Down syndrome resulting from trisomy of chromosome 21, Edward syndrome from trisomy of chromosome 18, and Patau syndrome from trisomy of chromosome 13. All other trisomies and monosomies are noted to not be viable.
