Gender equality is important because it fights for those who do not have the same privileges as others based on their gender identity. To apply gender equality locally, it takes a community where people can share their experiences to understand different perspectives on gender issues and reduce stereotyping. The greatest contributions can be made through teaching students early in schools to reduce prejudice, and by creating safe communities where neighbors can openly discuss gender equality. Social media features like hashtags and trend-setting can help spread awareness by allowing people to share personal stories on a specific topic through a common hashtag.

resonate?
As someone who was born female at birth and
associates with being the gender female, I
have every right to fight for others who don’t
have the same privilege. People who identify
as non-binary, a different gender than their
sex, etc. are ridiculed and discriminated
against. I want to help them live in a world
where they are not inequal.

applied locally
To apply gender equality locally, it takes a
community. We must all share our
experiences on gender together to
understand and learn from each other. In
this case, ignorance is not bliss because it
can cause stereotyping on gender-based
problems. One by one, we can slowly teach
each other on the topic.
