We take a look at the risks of non-compliance when it comes to GDPR and what can be done to assist your own compliance through the use of GDPR365 software.
Data Privacy laws around the world have levied stringent obligations on the way businesses are required to handle sensitive data. Non-compliance to these obligations will have severe consequences and penalties, especially in case of a security breach. Organizations looking to achieve GDPR compliance need to map their data flow to assess privacy risks. GDPR Data Mapping is the process of determining the type of data processed and the way they are processed. This helps determine the risk exposure of your company and systems or applications that are highly exposed to threats.

Are you ready for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?
With the GDPR deadline less than two years away, the pressure is on for organizations to understand how they will comply. Proper data management is part of the answer, but tying these efforts into a data governance framework to manage data protection is key to meeting – and sustaining – GDPR compliance.
In this webinar we will discuss:
-What GDPR is and the impact it has on data management
-Why a sustainable framework is key to getting GDPR right
-The five steps to establishing a data protection framework
-How to ensure ongoing compliance
Your Worst GDPR Nightmare - Unstructured DataDATAVERSITY
There’s no question that organizations across the globe are ramping up their efforts to prepare for the EU’s expansive General Data Protection Regulation. In a recent Veritas survey, over 92% of organizations admitted some degree of preparation, yet only 53% are confident they will be GDPR-ready when the go-live date hits in May 2018. Most organizations are launching their readiness efforts focused on structured data—the data they are most familiar with and have the most control over. The problem is that structured data only makes up one-fifth of all the data in a typical enterprise environment…what are these organizations going to do about the other 80% of unstructured data?
GDPR (and the stiff penalties that come with it) is the forcing mechanism that will finally drive organizations to take a proactive governance posture when it comes to unstructured data. This session will explore the key steps required for accelerating GDPR readiness by locating, searching, minimizing, protecting, and monitoring unstructured data. By attending this session, you will learn best-practices for staying off the regulator’s hit list and establishing the most effective workflows for ensuring ongoing unstructured data compliance.

Oil & Gas ICT Leader 2017 - Day 2 April 20thRay Bugg
The industry is changing: against a challenging backdrop with a ‘lower for longer’ economic forecast, Oil & Gas companies are turning to technology to modernise and improve their operations. This transformation has seen IT repositioned as a core business technology, drawn from a background support function to a crucial centre of value creation and innovation. This tectonic shift places IT leaders in a vital position within their organisation, ensuring existing assets and emerging technology are effectively harnessed to deliver tangible business outcomes.
Cost reduction is still the primary mandate for most organisations, with ongoing efforts to strip back overheads and address key areas of inefficiency to cope with tightening budgetary restraints. But while the pursuit of ‘more for less’ has become a fundamental necessity, it is important that the strategy employs sufficient safeguards to avoid stifling long term progress. Organisations need to retain the personnel, the skills and the tools to ensure they still have the capacity to innovate.
One of the most prevalent trends of recent years has been a concerted move towards greater automation. Organisations are increasingly incorporating sensors, robotics and live data feeds to enhanced remote operations. But this digitisation of process is not just taking place in far flung fields; across the operation, digital technologies are being applied to enable improved visibility and insight. And data analytics is increasingly being used to evaluate asset performance, and enhance predictability, forecasting and decision making.
Whilst operators have made strides to address inefficiencies and create faster, more agile processes, there are still several barriers to progress. Organisations need to adapt their structure, break down internal silos and allow more cohesive and collaborative engagement. This collaboration also needs to extend to the wider supply chain and external partners across the industry. Skills and leadership is also a key barrier to progress, while cultural inertia still poses a problem for the industry and needs to be tackled head-on if digital transformation ambitions are to be achieved.
This conference will bring together IT leaders from across the world for knowledge exchange, thought leadership and collaboration. Now in its 4th year, the conference has established itself as the must-attend event for IT leaders working in Oil & Gas. The programme will explore the use of Information Technology in driving tangible business benefits, with topics spanning: data analytics, cloud, cyber security, automation, leadership and culture.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
