- Let’s start with a story..
- So to solve Ange’s problem, what do we need? Let’s see.. User-side service: Something which works on Ange’s side. Easier than excel: Something which is easier than excel. Manages job apps: which manages applications for her efficiently. No ads: Something which is ad and clutter free.
- Like Ange the target users for this project are Recent graduates or job seekers who are starting to or are in the process of applying for jobs.
- I interviewed 5 to 6 people and these were important things I heard. People have different ways of remembering the history of their applications. Some of them include storing the confirmation emails in a separate folder in their email, and making a separate email for job applications. So all of this pointed to a user-centric solution of the problem.
- They reside in your browser and you can activate or use them whenever you want without switching between screens. Most of us use our laptops or PCs to apply for jobs. So these little plugins could be used to perform small contextual tasks like ours.
- Do not interrupt: Most important use here is that they do not interrupt or take over the current task. They’re like an overlay which get activated whenever we want. Light-weight: Since they reside in the browser, they’re very light weight and hardly take any time to load. No space for ads: Advertising is yet to take over these services (since most of them are free for use) Move along with you: They move along with you and are present whenever you sign in to your browser from anywhere Easier to install/uninstall: They’re super easy to get and forget.
