The document discusses the process of rigging and focusing lights for a drama assessment performance. A technical team is responsible for placing the lights in the correct positions, securing them to the rig, and plugging them into the lighting desk for control. A tall ladder called a tallescope is used to reach the rig and attach the lights while others on the team help by plotting light placements. Gels are cut to fit the lights to produce the desired colors, and finally the lights are focused on the intended areas of the stage.

Is it just luck if you get picked up by a collector at your Degree Show? Or do collectors specifically choose which shows to attend, know what they want to buy and how much they want to spend? Do they already have their eyes on particular student artists? Find out directly from British Art collector Chris Ingram about why he started collecting and how he makes his choices.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Working in a Technical Team
I was part of the team responsible for rigging and focusing the lights before the A2 Drama
assessments.
The point of rigging is so that the lights are in the correct place and aimed in the general
direction that they need to be facing for the performance. When they are in the rig and
secure we then find were it is easiest to plug the light in without inconveniencing any other
lights so that they can go through the dimmers to be controlled by the lighting desk.
When rigging we use a piece of equipment called the tallescope; the tallescope is a large
stable ladder with wheels at the base so that it’s easy to be moved around and a platform at
the top so that a member of the technical team can stand on top of it and rig using both
hands. Below you will see an image of me up the tallescope rigging a special for the A2
Drama Assessments.
When not up the tallescope we help the next person up there by plotting where the next
light is to be place and plugged in. On the next page you will find an image of me and
a partner plotting lights while another member of the team is up the tallescope.
2. When the lights are being put into the rig you need to make sure that they have the correct
gel in to create the correct colour for the light we do this by cutting the gels to fit the lights.
Here is an image of me cutting a gel.
Once all the previous have been done we then focus the light so it is lighting the correct part
of the stage. Here is an image of me rigging.
