Qualitative - Quantitative research
QUalitative is about the experience, and Quantitive is about the numbers and statistics.
DATA ANALYSIS
● Quantitative data refers to any information that can be quantified, counted or measured, and given a
numerical value. Qualitative data is descriptive in nature, expressed in terms of language rather than
numerical values.
● Quantitative research is based on numeric data. Qualitative research focuses on the qualities of users—the
'why' behind the numbers.
● It's hard to conduct a successful data analysis without qualitative and quantitative data. They both have their
advantages and disadvantages and often complement each other.

Ethnography
Ethnography is a type of qualitative research that involves immersing yourself in a particular community or
organization to observe their behavior and interactions up close. The word “ethnography” also refers to the written
report of the research that the ethnographer produces afterwards.
Ethnography is a qualitative research method in which a researcher—an ethnographer—studies a particular social/cultural group with the
aim to better understand it. Ethnography is both a process (e.g., one does ethnography) and a product (e.g., one writes an ethnography). In
doing ethnography, an ethnographer actively participates in the group in order to gain an insider’s perspective of the group and to have
experiences similar to the group members. In writing ethnography, an ethnographer creates an account of the group based on this
participation, interviews with group members, and an analysis of group documents and artifacts. This entry offers an overview of ethnography
and the ethnographic research process, including negotiating access, data collection, analysis, and writing.
TAYLOR
Her most recent book is Watch Me Play (Princeton, 2018). Taylor analyzes the rise of game live streaming, focusing particularly on the
platform Twitch. Continuing her interests in the sociology of play, governance, and management, she discusses how live streaming has
come to transform everyday gaming, as well as amplify the growth of esports. The book explores the affective and precarious labor of these
broadcasters, the emphasis on media entertainment within esports, and the transformative work of live streaming.[9] It won the American
Sociological Association's Communication, Information Technologies, and Media Sociology section 2019 book award.
Her first book, Play Between Worlds (MIT Press, 2006) focused on the massively multiplayer online game EverQuest. It explored the social
aspects of play, powergaming, gender, and the creative practices of players (including intellectual property implications).
She s interested in the transformation of private play into public entertainment and the rise of networked broadcasting.

theatrical performance, esports players do so through game expertise. Taylor provides a strong line of argument to demonstrate how t
his work is rooted in an affective economy where emotions are commodified

The author situates the
rise of live game-streaming in the history of televisual culture harking back
to times of families sitting in their living rooms watching television together.
Taylor argues that live game-streaming did not suddenly spring out of nowhere, rather, it is the next phase
of shared broadcast experiences that generations have known whether around the radio, TV, or game
consoles.

  • 2. Qualitative - Quantitative research QUalitative is about the experience, and Quantitive is about the numbers and statistics. DATA ANALYSIS ● Quantitative data refers to any information that can be quantified, counted or measured, and given a numerical value. Qualitative data is descriptive in nature, expressed in terms of language rather than numerical values. ● Quantitative research is based on numeric data. Qualitative research focuses on the qualities of users—the 'why' behind the numbers. ● It's hard to conduct a successful data analysis without qualitative and quantitative data. They both have their advantages and disadvantages and often complement each other.
  • 4. Ethnography Ethnography is a type of qualitative research that involves immersing yourself in a particular community or organization to observe their behavior and interactions up close. The word “ethnography” also refers to the written report of the research that the ethnographer produces afterwards. Ethnography is a qualitative research method in which a researcher—an ethnographer—studies a particular social/cultural group with the aim to better understand it. Ethnography is both a process (e.g., one does ethnography) and a product (e.g., one writes an ethnography). In doing ethnography, an ethnographer actively participates in the group in order to gain an insider’s perspective of the group and to have experiences similar to the group members. In writing ethnography, an ethnographer creates an account of the group based on this participation, interviews with group members, and an analysis of group documents and artifacts.   • 5. TAYLOR Her most recent book is Watch Me Play (Princeton, 2018). Taylor analyzes the rise of game live streaming, focusing particularly on the platform Twitch. Continuing her interests in the sociology of play, governance, and management, she discusses how live streaming has come to transform everyday gaming, as well as amplify the growth of esports. The book explores the affective and precarious labor of these broadcasters, the emphasis on media entertainment within esports, and the transformative work of live streaming.[9] It won the American Sociological Association's Communication, Information Technologies, and Media Sociology section 2019 book award. Her first book, Play Between Worlds (MIT Press, 2006) focused on the massively multiplayer online game EverQuest. It explored the social aspects of play, powergaming, gender, and the creative practices of players (including intellectual property implications).
