gOS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution created by Good OS LLC to make accessing web 2.0 applications like Google apps easy for mainstream users. The first version was based on Ubuntu 7.10 and featured the Enlightenment window manager. It has gone through several releases that added more Google apps and functionality. It has low system requirements and includes features like Google gadgets, Picasa, Mail, Calendar, Documents and 3D window switching.

Its CEO Dave Liu described that after meeting Enlightenment and open source people, he realized that his dream to bring Web 2.0 applications into mainstreamuse could be achieved by creating a GNU/Linux distribution that made it easy for users to access Google and other Web 2.0 applications
