Over 100 community leaders from the Holland/Zeeland area in Michigan participated in a three-day Future Search conference from March 28-30, 2011 to discuss 21st century governance. The participants represented a variety of stakeholders including public officials, businesses, education, and citizens. Through group activities exploring trends, community histories and desired futures, the participants identified common priorities and developed action statements around 10 shared themes to guide improved collaboration and cost efficiency among local governments.
