This document discusses the Future Cities @ U.Porto program at the University of Porto. It provides context that the city of Porto is a mid-sized European city with a multi-modal transportation system and fiber optic internet backbone. The University of Porto has over 31,000 students across 14 schools focusing on fields like computation, control, communication, art, social sciences, and engineering. The Future Cities program aims to form interdisciplinary teams to build urban testbeds, work with end users, share data, solve real-world problems with industry partners, and disseminate results. It collaborates with universities, industrial partners, municipalities, and government agencies with advisory support.
