Community Action
Moving Beyond the Requirement
The Basics
 All Gold Organizations and
Funded Accounts are
required to complete one
Community Action Project
per academic year.
 All Forms are available on
OrgSync.
 Each Community Action
Project must engage an
external organization or
particular community.
 At least half of your
organization’s members must
be present at the time of
service.
 Step 1: Community Action
Interest Form
 Step 2: Approval
 Step 3: Project Completion
 Step 4: Community Action
Completion Form
 Step 5: Evaluation
 Step 6: Student Leadership
Awards
Step 1&2: Community Action Interest Form
and Approval
 Every organization must fill out
a Community Action Interest
Form two weeks prior to the
service being performed or by
November 1st by 5 PM for
review by ASUSF Mission
Committee.
 Forms will be reviewed on a
rolling basis.
 Organizations will receive an
email confirming that their
Community Action Interest
Form has been received.
s/79065
 Once the ASUSF Mission
Committee has reviewed your
Community Action Interest
Form, you will receive an
approval email.
 Once your approval email is
received, your organization
may proceed with your project
and completion process.
 To ensure that all organizations
are doing an equal amount of
work, your approval email may
include suggestions on how to
enhance your Community
Action Project.
 If suggestions are provided in
your email, you must meet with
the VP of Mission before you
proceed.
Step 3: Project Completion
 Although the Community
Action Project is a
requirement, the purpose
and benefits span beyond
that.
 We would like every
organization to think about
their Mission and use that to
formulate their Community
Action Project.
 Moving Beyond the
Requirement takes it a step
further and requires us all to
be more thoughtful about
what we do and how.
 For example!
 ASUSF Senate’s Community
Action Project will be focused
around National Voter
Registration day and is in
accordance with our Mission
of advocacy for students.
 Let’s take a look at other
great Community Action
Projects!
 Esther Madriz, PAWS,
Intervarsity Christian
Fellowship, Graphics Center,
and Kasamahan……Great
job!
Step 4 & 5: Community Action Completion
Form and Evaluation
 The Community Action
Completion Form must be
completed two weeks after your
service has been performed.
 You will receive an email that it
has been approved and you are
finished!
 This year, Community Action
Projects will be showcased in a
slideshow during the Annual
Student Leadership Awards so
the progress pictures are
especially important (and
required).
79119
 The Evaluation process is
something new.
 When you fill out your Community
Action Completion Form, you will
be asked to provide the site
coordinator/supervisor’s email
and phone number.
 Your application is not complete
without that information.
 The site coordinator/supervisor
will be sent and email with a
evaluation form.
 This is to build a network of
community partners for our
students.
Step 6: Student Leadership
Awards and Important Dates
 Photos will be compiled
from all Community Action
Projects to showcase all f
your hard work during
Student Leadership Awards.
 Community Action Projects
that are submitted by
Monday, March 3rd by 5 PM
will be considered for an
award recognizing
Excellence in Community
Action.
 Friday, November 1st by 5
PM-All Community Action
Interest Forms Due. (all
approval emails will be sent
out by November 15th)
 Monday, March 3rd by 5
PM- Deadline for Student
Leadership Award
consideration.
 Friday, May 2nd by 5 PM- All
Community Action
Completion Forms due.
Consequences
 Failure to complete a Community Action Project
will result in disciplinary action.
 If your organization does not complete a
Community Action Project, your organization will
be required to complete TWO Community
Action Projects for the next academic year.
 If you need help, please ask for it!
 Mission Committee can be reached at
asusfmissioncommittee@gmail.com
 I can be reached at
srosemond@dons.usfca.edu
Support
 If you ever need help or ever have any
questions, please let me know!
 PAT and Senate are well aware of all the
Community Action Project Policy, deadlines,
and contact info.
 We are your resource and I want to provide
as much support as possible for
organizations on campus throughout this
process.
This involvement not only creates a relationship with the greater San
Francisco/Bay Area, but also enhances the goals and mission of the
participating organizations and fosters the values and sensitivity
necessary to be men and women for others.
Any questions?
