13: You are like salt for everyone on earth
14: You are like light for the whole world
16: Make your light shine, so that others may see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.
”When the world finally comes to an end, will we be recorded as the continent that was and will always be the
developing continent, or will we be known as the continent that stood up and worked together to create a legacy
for ourselves? Our demotivation should not be that we cannot impact the lives of every single person but our
motivation should be that we can at least try to change a few.
Pro Ed
Leadership is not the amount of power you possess over others, but rather you caring about others more than
you care about yourself. The future of this country and the rest of Africa lie in the hands of our current young
generation, a generation that is currently more concerned with social media, parties and substance abuse. This
country, this continent and the world as a whole is not in need of a youth that waits for handouts, we need to
groom a youth that knows how to take charge and claim their futures. We are legacies and descendants of brave
men and women, heroes and heroines, who marched the streets, sacrificed their lives so that we could have a
better life than they had. The time has come for us to honor those individuals by investing ourselves to the cause
of empowering Africa and its people. We claim we do not see change only because the efforts are coming from
one side. No matter how much we shout, as long as we expect the government to do everything for us without
doing anything to assist, many students will still drop out, no leaders will be groomed and poverty will still
reign. It begins by empowering one person, and that person will empower the next and so forth. Many students
acquire their degrees or diplomas with a vision of moving to America, Asia or Europe, when Africa is in dire
need of the knowledge they have acquired. We tend to complain about there being nothing to stay for in Africa,
forgetting that Europe and America were not discovered in the state in which they are today; there are people
who worked to get them to that point. A question we need to ask ourselves is that how can there possibly be
something to stay for in Africa when we have not contributed towards building anything? We need a young
generation that does not enjoy finished products without working for them. Africa is the responsibility of all
Africans, we need to stand together and build a solid future for the generations to come.
This is why we as Profound Education have taken it upon ourselves to invest our time, knowledge, skills and
resources to helping young across the continent through funding, academic and professional mentorship,
motivational guidance, exchange programs, skills development, work training, and many other services to be
born. We believe that no one understands the African struggle or the African spirit more than Africans
themselves. And together we can achieve more than we have been achieving.
There are tons of organizations that offer these services, however, many of them are dependent on donations
and handouts. They are impossible to get ahold of and most young people, which are their target market, do not
know about them. Many lack vison, all they seek to do is to impact the minority but we want to change the
dynamics of the entire continent through educational empowerment. Profound Education was founded by
students who understand first-hand what the youth is experiencing and what we need. We want to be accessible
to all students, accessible to the entire youth, even those that are sitting day by day on a corner with no purpose.
We are focused on giving a hundred and twenty percent to developing the mind set of our young people. More
than basic serves, Profound Education seeks to instill courage, leadership, vision, innovation and a hunger for
success in the various young lives we impact.
It is our desire, to groom a generation that knows how to stand up and fight for their country and continent, a
generation that is able to create, develop and sustain brilliant ideas, and a generation that invests itself towards
achieving economic freedom. And we believe that it can be done, through a partnership with our government,
businesses and individuals who are looking to be a part of a generation that changes things for the better.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”
Dr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela
Profound Education is a startup; therefore most of the details to be listed below are still a working progress.
However, we are determined to make this organization a success and to grow the plans we have now.
THE VARSITY DREAM
1. Services
 Funding: this is the biggest problem most students are facing, lack of funds. It can be tuition fees,
accommodation and most common book funding. Majority of students have gone to bed hungry
at least once in their student life, some have slept outside of their accommodation because they
couldn’t pay. A lot of students go through university or college without ever owning a prescribed
syllabus textbook. This will be our major warfare, obtaining funds to support students who need
it the most. We will also ensure that thorough background checks are done on all our applicants,
reason being that most of the funding schemes are awarded to students who don’t really need
them because they fabricate affidavits, disadvantaging those who really need the funds. We will
begin by assisting with registration and books, and once our financial capabilities grow we will
begin to help with tuition and accommodation as well
 Mentorship: individuals who are mentored often have a head start in life because they are
groomed to withstand various trials. Profound Education offers academic and professional
mentorship by partnering with various A students on various campuses and professionals in
prospective fields.
 Motivational guidance: now and again we need to be reminded of who we are, the power that lies
in us and what we are capable of. We need constant encouragement to remain on the right path,
we want to offer this to as many young people as possible. Not everyone requires a degree to
make it, some are gifted with their hands, and we want to impact those young people as well.
Through guidance, encouragement and support.
 Exchange programs: we are not only holding the torch for South Africa, but for Africa as a
whole. There is a lot Africans have to offer to each other and we see this as a way to close the
gap between African countries, by offering sponsorship to our students to study in other African
countries, attend skills development training and host debate competitions amongst young
African people. Before we are South African, we are African.
 Entrepreneurship and skills development: most young people work towards being perfect
employees but very little work towards being world class employers. The world today is in need
of employment creators rather than employment seekers. Pro Ed is also passionate about idea
generation, skills development and business creation. Therefore Pro Ed will offer relevant
students to any young person who has a business idea. These students will put what they learn in
the class room into practice. This serves as a development platform for the student, a way to gain
experience and an opportunity to get involved in the development of an idea that could birth the
next best thing.
 Work training: one of the main reasons we are looking to partner with companies is that we want
our beneficiaries to be able to get work experience while they are studying. Many students go
through university without really understanding what the working field is like, once they start
working then they realize that it’s not what they want to do, and because they have used time and
money they stay in a field they are not happy with. If you are not happy, you cannot give your
best, resulting in average performance. Pro Ed wants to produce young people who are going to
excel in their respective fields, because they are passionate about what they do.
THE RURAL AREA DREAM
Most resources are pumped into cities and known rural areas, but there are plenty of rural areas that are being
over looked, villages that are home to many young people who have great potential but are unable to explore
this potential due to a lack of funds, resources and information. Pro Ed is dedicated to developing the mindsets
of these young people because we believe that education is more than a class room, its bringing knowledge in
all possible ways. Few young people who make it out of these areas never go back to assist those who are left
behind, because they are not taught that the most important place where you need to bring change when you
have made it, is home. Our aim is to partner with business people, municipalities, religious leaders and other
interested individuals who reside near these areas in order to impact the lives of those who need it, by bringing
seminars, motivational talks, mentorship programs, feed a child schemes and many other required services.
There are plenty of children who are heading families, who are dropping out of school not because they want to
but because of different circumstances, Pro Ed wants to be a helper to those types of young people as well. We
do not want to clean over the surface but want to go where most people avoid going. So many organizations are
already dealing with the surface problems but as Pro Ed we want to travel to the deep end because that is where
the most help is needed. It should not be that one young person has to struggle more than another to achieve
their goals, it is indeed not a fair world but we can try to make it just a little bit fair. Young people in rural areas
are already dealing with extreme poverty, adding a lack of resources and programs is cruel.
THE AFRICAN DREAM
Our ultimate goal is to bring change to young people all over Africa because before we are South African we
are African. There are countries like Malawi where there is only one state university available, the rest are
private universities. In a country where 75% of the young people are from poor backgrounds, their only hope is
the state university. The first problem is that it cannot take all young people that apply; secondly it does not
offer many qualifications, these results in many dying dreams. There is so much we can change if we work
together, and this is why Profound education exists.
2. Funding
 Most non-profit organizations are heavily dependent on donations and handouts. We will accept
donations but we want to shy away from dependency. This is an organization that wants to stand
on its own through business endeavors and innovation. Because we want to have offices on
various campuses, we believe it would be beneficial if we worked towards opening cafeterias
and establishing a newspaper on these campuses. In this way we know that we have a sustainable
source of income, and the students will support the businesses because they are established to
assist them.
 We have also drafted 4 annual fundraisers that will contribute to the monies we collect for the
organization
 Annual fashion show: having garments created to be auctioned at the show. These
garments can be designed by fashion design students from various schools, as a platform
to market themselves.
 Annual beauty pageant: finalists from different campuses competing for the Mr. and Miss
Profound Education.
 Annual music concert: a music concert held in a different city every year.
All these annual fundraiser will mainly raise funds through ticket selling. They will be classy and
well sold to attract as many people as possible.
3. Location
 We want to be close and in reach for students, to provide an environment whereby they can just
walk into our offices any time they need to. This is why we are looking at having an office on all
campuses we will be working with. However we will still have a main office in Vanderbijlpark
and in Johannesburg. We chose Vanderbijlpark because that is where the work began and
Johannesburg because it is the heart of businesses and therefore the mother of many
opportunities for the organization and our beneficiaries. We have not yet located areas where we
would like to occupy in these two cities, therefore in the mean time we will be operating from all
various campuses. Headquarters will be for young people who are not in universities but need
our assistance; however, even the on campus offices will be open to them.
Advisory board
We are still approaching individuals we believe would serve us well on our advisory board.
Campus structure
 Office manager
 Administration officer
 Treasurer
 2 consultants
Profound Education has the potential to bring change to numerous young people in need of it, through constant
support and encouragement because we want to invest in tomorrow’s leaders. This is a cause bigger than all of
us, but it is a cause we are willing to work for. We are all born for a greater purpose and we believe that the
greatest fulfilment in life comes from serving the greater masses. Happiness, pure happiness, comes from seeing
another smile because you did something good for them. Together we can build a better nation, together we are
Profound Education.

We are for the future! We are for Africa!

More than basic serves, Profound Education seeks to instill courage, leadership, vision, innovation and a hunger for success in the various young lives we impact. It is our desire, to groom a generation that knows how to stand up and fight for their country and continent, a generation that is able to create, develop and sustain brilliant ideas, and a generation that invests itself towards achieving economic freedom. And we believe that it can be done, through a partnership with our government, businesses and individuals who are looking to be a part of a generation that changes things for the better. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” Dr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Profound Education is a startup; therefore most of the details to be listed below are still a working progress. However, we are determined to make this organization a success and to grow the plans we have now. THE VARSITY DREAM 1. Services  Funding: this is the biggest problem most students are facing, lack of funds. It can be tuition fees, accommodation and most common book funding. Majority of students have gone to bed hungry at least once in their student life, some have slept outside of their accommodation because they couldn’t pay. A lot of students go through university or college without ever owning a prescribed syllabus textbook. This will be our major warfare, obtaining funds to support students who need it the most. We will also ensure that thorough background checks are done on all our applicants,
  • 3. reason being that most of the funding schemes are awarded to students who don’t really need them because they fabricate affidavits, disadvantaging those who really need the funds. We will begin by assisting with registration and books, and once our financial capabilities grow we will begin to help with tuition and accommodation as well  Mentorship: individuals who are mentored often have a head start in life because they are groomed to withstand various trials. Profound Education offers academic and professional mentorship by partnering with various A students on various campuses and professionals in prospective fields.  Motivational guidance: now and again we need to be reminded of who we are, the power that lies in us and what we are capable of. We need constant encouragement to remain on the right path, we want to offer this to as many young people as possible. Not everyone requires a degree to make it, some are gifted with their hands, and we want to impact those young people as well. Through guidance, encouragement and support.  Exchange programs: we are not only holding the torch for South Africa, but for Africa as a whole. There is a lot Africans have to offer to each other and we see this as a way to close the gap between African countries, by offering sponsorship to our students to study in other African countries, attend skills development training and host debate competitions amongst young African people. Before we are South African, we are African.  Entrepreneurship and skills development: most young people work towards being perfect employees but very little work towards being world class employers. The world today is in need of employment creators rather than employment seekers. Pro Ed is also passionate about idea generation, skills development and business creation. Therefore Pro Ed will offer relevant students to any young person who has a business idea. These students will put what they learn in the class room into practice. This serves as a development platform for the student, a way to gain experience and an opportunity to get involved in the development of an idea that could birth the next best thing.  Work training: one of the main reasons we are looking to partner with companies is that we want our beneficiaries to be able to get work experience while they are studying. Many students go through university without really understanding what the working field is like, once they start working then they realize that it’s not what they want to do, and because they have used time and money they stay in a field they are not happy with. If you are not happy, you cannot give your best, resulting in average performance. Pro Ed wants to produce young people who are going to excel in their respective fields, because they are passionate about what they do. THE RURAL AREA DREAM Most resources are pumped into cities and known rural areas, but there are plenty of rural areas that are being over looked, villages that are home to many young people who have great potential but are unable to explore this potential due to a lack of funds, resources and information. Pro Ed is dedicated to developing the mindsets of these young people because we believe that education is more than a class room, its bringing knowledge in all possible ways. Few young people who make it out of these areas never go back to assist those who are left behind, because they are not taught that the most important place where you need to bring change when you have made it, is home. Our aim is to partner with business people, municipalities, religious leaders and other interested individuals who reside near these areas in order to impact the lives of those who need it, by bringing
  • 4. seminars, motivational talks, mentorship programs, feed a child schemes and many other required services. There are plenty of children who are heading families, who are dropping out of school not because they want to but because of different circumstances, Pro Ed wants to be a helper to those types of young people as well. We do not want to clean over the surface but want to go where most people avoid going. So many organizations are already dealing with the surface problems but as Pro Ed we want to travel to the deep end because that is where the most help is needed. It should not be that one young person has to struggle more than another to achieve their goals, it is indeed not a fair world but we can try to make it just a little bit fair. Young people in rural areas are already dealing with extreme poverty, adding a lack of resources and programs is cruel. THE AFRICAN DREAM Our ultimate goal is to bring change to young people all over Africa because before we are South African we are African. There are countries like Malawi where there is only one state university available, the rest are private universities. In a country where 75% of the young people are from poor backgrounds, their only hope is the state university. The first problem is that it cannot take all young people that apply; secondly it does not offer many qualifications, these results in many dying dreams. There is so much we can change if we work together, and this is why Profound education exists. 2. Funding  Most non-profit organizations are heavily dependent on donations and handouts. We will accept donations but we want to shy away from dependency. This is an organization that wants to stand on its own through business endeavors and innovation. Because we want to have offices on various campuses, we believe it would be beneficial if we worked towards opening cafeterias and establishing a newspaper on these campuses. In this way we know that we have a sustainable source of income, and the students will support the businesses because they are established to assist them.  We have also drafted 4 annual fundraisers that will contribute to the monies we collect for the organization  Annual fashion show: having garments created to be auctioned at the show. These garments can be designed by fashion design students from various schools, as a platform to market themselves.  Annual beauty pageant: finalists from different campuses competing for the Mr. and Miss Profound Education.  Annual music concert: a music concert held in a different city every year. All these annual fundraiser will mainly raise funds through ticket selling. They will be classy and well sold to attract as many people as possible. 3. Location  We want to be close and in reach for students, to provide an environment whereby they can just walk into our offices any time they need to. This is why we are looking at having an office on all campuses we will be working with. However we will still have a main office in Vanderbijlpark and in Johannesburg. We chose Vanderbijlpark because that is where the work began and
  • 5. Johannesburg because it is the heart of businesses and therefore the mother of many opportunities for the organization and our beneficiaries. We have not yet located areas where we would like to occupy in these two cities, therefore in the mean time we will be operating from all various campuses. Headquarters will be for young people who are not in universities but need our assistance; however, even the on campus offices will be open to them. Advisory board We are still approaching individuals we believe would serve us well on our advisory board. Campus structure  Office manager  Administration officer  Treasurer  2 consultants Profound Education has the potential to bring change to numerous young people in need of it, through constant support and encouragement because we want to invest in tomorrow’s leaders. This is a cause bigger than all of us, but it is a cause we are willing to work for. We are all born for a greater purpose and we believe that the greatest fulfilment in life comes from serving the greater masses. Happiness, pure happiness, comes from seeing another smile because you did something good for them. Together we can build a better nation, together we are Profound Education. Profound Education We are for the future! We are for Africa!
