 Build scale in – Serena solutions are built to deal with the massive scale
typical in HRLEs in terms of transactions, data, users, geography, platforms,
methodologies and technologies
 Role specific interfaces – design the solution around the user even if that
means having more than one type of interface
 Always be open – ensure we integrate with the customer’s tool stack even if
they are from competitors by having an open, extensible, process-centric API
 Stand extant – no Serena solution should need another Serena solution to
work and Serena solutions should use native capabilities in the platform
whenever available
 Whole is greater than its parts – when two or more Serena solutions are
working together they should offer capabilities beyond those available in the
separate solutions
