1. The 21st Century Teacher
THERE ARE ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR DIGITAL LEARNERS
THAT TEACHERS SHOULD CONSIDER IN GIVING
APPROPRIATE ACTIVITIES AND ASSESSMENTS TO
THEIR LEARNERS.
2. The characteristics that 21st Century Teacher should
acquire
1. The Adaptor
The Teacher must be able to adapt to a dynamic teaching
experience.
They must also be able to adapt our teaching style to be
inclusive of different models of learning.
They must also be able to adapt software and hardware
designed for a business model into tools utilizable by a
variety of age groups and abilities.
3. 2. The Visionary
The visionary teacher can look at the others ideas
and envisage how they would use this in their class.
They also looks across disciplines and through the
curricula.
They must see the potential in the emerging tools
and web technologies, grasps these and manipulate
them to serve their needs.
4. 3. The Collaborator
The teacher must be able to leverage the
collaborative tools to enhance and captivate the
learners attention.
They must be collaborators; sharing, contributing,
adapting and inventing.
5. 4. The Risk taker
The teacher must take risks and some times surrender yourself to
the student knowledge.
Have a vision of what you want and what the technology can
achieve, identify the goals and facilitate the learning.
Use the strengths of the digital natives to understand and navigate
new products.
The learning pyramid shows that the highest retention of
knowledge comes from teaching others.

The 21st Century teacher must endeavor to stay
current, they mu8st continue to absorb new
possibilities and experience.
They must learn and adapt.
7. 6. The Communicator
The 21st Century teacher are fluent in tools and
technologies that enable communication and
collaboration.
They must know how to use different media in
communication.
8. 7. The Model
The Digital Teacher must model the behaviors that
are expected from the students.
They also model reflective practice, whether it’s the
quiet, personal inspection of their teaching and
learning.
9. 8. The Leader
Leadership, like clear goals and objectives is crucial
to the success or failure of any project.
10. FACILITATING 21st CENTURY LEARNING
The 3 factors that educators are deliberately considering in the
implementation of Technology in Education;
1. Resources
The physical and electronic tools and materials available to the
teacher in the classroom.
Ex. Interactive whiteboards, classroom desktop computers,
and etc.

2 Categories of skills;
Technical skills, refers to the ability to operate the
resources provided to you.
Pedagogical skills, refers to the more important of
the two. It is the ability to use variety of suitable
pedagogical strategies is key to integration.
12. 3. Curriculum
The integration of curricula that support ICT
integration are dynamic. The use of ICT is mandatory
and global, inclusive and specific.
The teachers encourage using digital approaches
Teaching drives the technology rather than
technology driving the teaching.
