FRIDAY FRIENDS
Our Vision:
Freedom from Stigmatization.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
Our Mission: Through friendship, to promote individual
focus and purpose, social inclusion and community
integration.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
 We are, as our name suggests, a friendship group,
meeting on a Friday. We are a small charity based in
Emmanuel Church Hall, Saltburn, and serve, mostly,
the East Cleveland area.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
 Anyone can have a mental health problem at any time in their lives, it
simply takes the “right” set of circumstances. About 25% of the
population will have a mental health issue in any one year.
 We believe that there is no therapy more powerful than friendship in
the maintenance of mental health.
 Our programme is structured, aiming to interactively include all
members and integrate the group into the community as much as
possible. We do not believe mental health patients should be
segregated and welcome all over 18 into our group. The activities are
interesting and you can volunteer.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
 Our programme is extremely varied and
there will be something for all.
 We are unfortunately not completely self-
funding and all support is gratefully
received. There is a small charge.
 We operate a system where volunteers and
members alike pay, aiming for all to have a
“job” within the group.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
 We aim to foster friendship, personal and social growth by
providing mutual support and a creative environment and
welcome all over the age of 18. We particularly aim to involve other
community groups/businesses(such as dance classes) for hopefully
mutual benefit.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
Objectives:
-To foster friendship
-To provide mutual support within
the group and community
-To provide a creative environment
FRIDAY FRIENDS
 -To ensure inclusion within the group
 -To develop members’ skills, working within
the group, where possible.
 -To work with community- based skilled
teaching courses with integration in mind
 -To facilitate group participation in
educational and social community events
FRIDAY FRIENDS
 What we do is follow a structured activity
programme.
 In the morning this is a talk, a presentation from a
group member or an outside contact or an
interactive activity.
 Followed by music , exercise or dance.
 The afternoon is a craft session.
FRIDAY FRIENDS
 Individual written feedback is collated and
analysed.
 Reflective methods using John’s
 Scale of success of activity is identified
 Amendments and/or improvements made to
programme if necessary
FRIDAY FRIENDS
We have group outings.
The café is visited on a Friday
after the group.
There have been friendships
formed outside the groups
