2. Terminal Learning Objectives
• Task: Properly train everyone how to operate the forklift safely,
correctly.
• Condition: Given a forklift, a power point presentation and one
on one instruction in a classroom environment
• Standards: Soldiers will demonstrate proficiency on the forklift.
You will have a graded test. The minimum standard is 80%.
There will also be a performance evaluation with a Go/No-Go
Evaluation format
4. Forklift PMCS
1. General walk around Forklift: checking for debris, wheel
damage and tire pressure, general health of forklift.
2. Check all warning labels.
3. Make sure all hardware is greased, all fittings are properly
tightened, no leaks in hydraulic lines, no damage to lifting
chain.
4. Check Fluids: Fuel(Diesel), Oil OE/HDO 15-40, Coolant.
10. Forklift Safety
When lifting heavy, or lifting on a slope, the operator
will ALWAYS engage the Emergency Brake.
The operator will ALWAYS drive a load forward uphill
and backwards downhill.
Before shutting down forklift the operator will ALWAYS
drop the forks all the way down to the ground.
11. Forklift Shutdown Procedures
1. Make sure forks are on the ground
2. Pull Choke all the way out until forklift shuts off
3. Push Choke back down
4. Turn off Battery Switch
5. Note any damages after use
