The speaker is trapped in a prison of memory, forever cursed to relive a past moment where they expressed their love for another person who is now years away. As the effects of alcohol wear off, the memory becomes hazy and the speaker must lose the person again, pounding on the invisible shield between them and crying out their love, only for the person to disappear once more as the hourglass tips and the sands fall, leaving the speaker alone to curse their fate and throw their empty bottle in anger and despair.

1. Forever Cursed
The words flow from your ghostly lips
“I love you”, uttered once again
Time freezes, yet I move with ease
Drunken and sloppy
But I remember everything
With horrifying reckoning
It all comes back to me
The hourglass tips to one side
Time is stripped away
Leaving me trapped in memory
My hands touch the invisible walls of my prison,
As they slide inches from your face,
Forever locked beyond any form of embrace
I want so much to touch you
But you are but years away,
Too far back for my steps to be retraced
So I fall to my knees
Crying, pleading for some sort of release
And as the alcohol courses through my bloodstream
Its effects slowly ending
Your memory becoming hazy
The lines about you begin fading
My torment now increasing
As once more I must lose you again
I rush forward
Pound on the shield that surrounds you
Over and over repeating my love for you
But you just smile back,
The way you always do
And as you disappear the hourglass tips
The sands once again begin to fall,
I pick myself up, wipe away my tears,
Curse everything,
And throw my empty bottle at the wall.
