Project Redwood has granted over $1 million to social entrepreneurs addressing global poverty issues since its founding 9 years ago. It was inspired by a 2005 panel and established governance procedures in 2006. Participation and funding grew steadily between 2007-2009. In its last four funding cycles between 2010-2012, Project Redwood funded over 50 projects totaling over $600,000 and refined its model. Partners are drawn to Project Redwood for opportunities to support Stanford classmates fighting issues like hunger, disease, and lack of education around the world.
