The Ford Mustang received a 72% rating for adult occupant protection, 32% for child occupant protection, 64% for pedestrian protection, and 16% for safety assist. Dummies in frontal crash tests showed good protection for knees and femurs but heads bottomed out airbags. Rear passengers had poor protection. Child dummies were well protected in most tests except when heads bottomed out side airbags. Pedestrian protection was good except for the pelvis. The Mustang lacked advanced safety features tested.
