 Calculatinga nutrientbudget. A focus of the Natural Resources Conservation Service(NRCS) under the United States Department of
Agriculture(USDA). A nutrient budget makes surethat the crops arereceivingthe correct and the right amount of nutrients for the crops
to grow. Nutrients budgets are important becauseit gives the farmers information about how to manage their budget and to manage
how much nutrients are needed for the crops. The crops can receive nutrients from cover crops and compost, but they can be expensive
to apply.For this project there will beworksheets made up for certain crops like:tomatoes, broccoli,spinach,and walnuts.The
worksheets are to help the farmers quantify the nutrients of the cover crops and compost and compare the costof these with other
fertilizers.
