of the 3rd Baxafra Armor Invitational Kali/Arnis Tournament.
About the Baxafra Arnis Martial Arts Organization
Baxafra Armor started in the year 1994 and was established September 1998 at the Philippine Normal Univer-
sity by its Chief Instructor Punong Tagapagturo Ronaldo “Bax” Baxafra. It was registered in the name Baxafra
Armor at DTI dated September 01, 2006 in the City of Makati. The system that Baxafra Armor teach is Kali
Arnis Galaw Tanggulan, Traditional Arnis Doce Generales and Modern Arnis Remy Presas System
	 The organization currently have nine (10) chapters. The first is in Laverdad College located at Caloocan
City under the guidance of Guro Joemicco Salomon. The second was established in the OTTC (Olympians
Taekwondo Center) located at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. The third one is in RDCB Gym found in Fairview
near Casa Millan. Both Gyms are personally taken care of Punong Maestro Ronaldo Baxafra, fourth chapter
Caloocan High School  under Professor Jeffrey Doguiles Teacher I, fifth is Pasay City North High School under
Teacher Nuquie Kimberly Rodil, the sixth chapter is in San Bartolome High School in Novaliches under Teach-
er Edward A. Mirdador, seventh Las Piñas High School under teacher Ariel Artoza, the eight  is in Immaculate
Conception Academy in Green Hills Sn. Juan under the personal supervision of Senior Dayang Jessielyn N.
Baxafra and the ninth is the Pasay East Elementary School under teacher Ronnel Zacarias, and Saint Joseph
School of Tondo under Teacher John Alfred Dela Paz.
	 Most of the members of Baxafra Armor are educators in profession and a licensed teacher who are con-
tinuously promoting the Art of Filipino martial arts.
	 In Tactical Martial Arts, the system Galaw Tanggulan is an innovation of Martial Art the founder learned
from his Grandmaster and Master of Shotokan Karate, Judo and Traditional and Modern Arnis.
	 Baxafra Armor nowadays does not only focus on Sports Arnis Teaching but also Tactical, Instructional,
Cultural and Practical applications of the art.
	 Recently, Baxafra Armor is gaining a name not only in Sports Arnis achievements but also in Practical
Martial Arts Teaching. We also teach adults and children who have passion and interest in learning the art.
	 Our mission is to integrate and cooperate with the Government in the dissemination of Republic Act
9850 - an Act Declaring Arnis as the National Martial Arts and Sports of the Philippines.

	 Each issue features practitioners of martial arts and other internal arts, other features include historical, theo-
retical and technical articles; reflections, Filipino martial arts, healing arts, the culture of the Philippines and other
related subjects.

	 The aim of the said tournament is to enrich the National Sport and encourage Arnisadors to a friendly
competition by participating in this kind of tournament and to measures what they’ve learned in practicing Arnis
it is also included the measurements of one’s self discipline and sportsmanship. Organizing a tournament will
open a door for each Kali/Arnis practitioner to test their knowledge and ability on defending their selves, wining
or loosing will teach them important lesson , acceptance and determination to learn furthermore not to give up
and be discourage. It also served as a dry run for the PNU Arnis Team (including Alumni members) to partici-
pate in the tournament not by playing but in improving their skills in officiating actual Arnis matches.
	 A number of teams from different parts of NCR participated. Most coming from Metro Manila but as
well as teams from as far as Bulacan Master BAX had also exclaimed that his only aim in organizing this event
is to support our National Government in the dissemination of the Republic Act 9850 Declaring Anis as the
National Sports and Martial arts of the Philippines.

No parts of this tournament ground rules should be reproduce and or distributed without the written permission
of the author
	 The tournament and event organizers, promoters and directors reserve the rights to change and or modi-
fy the rules as necessary in order to preserve the safety of the participants, tournament/staff and spectators. The
primary objectives of the organizers, is to promote excellent F.M.A. in the spirit of good competition, brother-
hood and preserving the lineage of the Filipino Martial Arts.
1. Code of Conduct
Honor, respect, brotherhood are expected from all participants, coaches, instructors, tournament officials/staff
and spectators. Inappropriate behavior and language may result immediate disqualification of match, tourna-
ment and or expulsion from event premises. You will be held responsible from your actions, representing your
instructor, teammates, school and organization.
2. Photography/and Video
The Public including the participants, coaches and instructors are allowed to photograph and video any matches
and events upon approval of technical committee. In case your photographer/videographer causes destruction
and delaying of the match, your player will automatically penalized of disqualification.
3. No Refunds, Non–Transferable and No Alternate Participants
There will be no refunds issued for any payments received. No exceptions. Completed and paid registration will
not be transferable.
4. Entry
Limited of entries as per design/advise of the organizers in every tournament/divisions(s). (See tournament
format)
Registered Officials participants cannot have an alternate or fill in if they are no show or late reporting to their
division(s). Name will be call three times (3x) during division call.
5. Check-in/Weigh-in
Participants MUST report and be physically present during roll call of divisions. Weight MUST not exceed to
the desired limit and may be necessary re-weigh upon questionable acts of any groups
6. Sports Weapon
Sponsored/endorsed only by the Organizer (padded stick) shall be used in any tournament sanctioned by the
Organization/alliance tournaments. Official sports weapon will be supplied.
7. Scoring
All matches will be judge by three (3) judges in every court and one (1) center referee (elimination), majority
decision of the judges to get a point optional from 7- 9 points deficit means win by superiority. Points are regis-
tered upon confirming of at least two or majority of the judges for the strikes that have a clean /clear technique,
power and accuracy. There will be a one minute thirty seconds (1.30 seconds) per rounds best of 2 for (elimina-
tions) in case of tie sudden death may apply for the extension and two minutes (2 minutes) per rounds for the
(championship). Optional time by the organizer can be adjusted to one minute every rounds in case of large
number of participants. Most accumulated points will determine the winner after the eliminations and champi-
onships. Center referee is the only person in the ring who can give penalty, additional points, or stop the fights
in any instances.
8. Legal Points
• Strike to front, side, or top of the headgear
• Strikes to weapon arm or hand
• Strikes to upper and lower extremities
• Strikes to the body and shoulders
9. Penalties and Disqualification
No verbal warning will be given upon disqualification. Tournament Rules must be reviewed and understood by
all competitors before the competition day. There will be a competitors/tournament staff meeting to review the
rules before the start of the competition.
• Penalties may include but not limited to the following:
- Striking illegal target
- Stepping out of the playing area during the match
- Disregarding referees command and instructions
- Blatant, malicious and dangerous actions
- Disregarding safety
10. Illegal Targets and Prohibited Moves
• Boxing, punching, kicking or kneeing
• Grappling or wrestling
• Pro long Holding of sticks or holding any part of the opponents body
• Thrusting to the neck areas
• Groin strikes
• Head butting
• Throwing, takedowns or foot sweeps
• Strikes to the back (head, body, neck)
• Foul inappropriate language
• Spitting to your opponent
Five (5) Penalties/ Foul Maximum Applied to the Whole Match
• 1st foul-already penalty
• 2nd foul- already penalty
• 3rd foul- warning for additional point/ already penalty
• 4th foul- additional point to the opponent
• 5th foul- disqualification
Three (3) Disarms Applied in Every Round
• 1st disarm – additional points to the opponent
• 2nd disarm- additional points to the opponent
• 3rd disarm – opponents wins
11. Fight Time
Each round will run for (1) one minute optional to (1 ½) one and a half or (2) minutes. No time outs will be
called by the competitor or coach. There will be (10) TEN seconds between each round (time for the coach to
give instructions). Time will stop unless center referee call stops time for the following reason/s. Only the ref-
eree can start and stop the fights
• Injury of the player in the match
• Issuance of foul/penalties
• Replacement of broken weapon/ gears
• End of round/ match
12. Sparring Safety Gears
For the safety of the participant they can use their own safety protectors as approved by the center referee and
the organizing committees. Sports arnis safety gears shall be used:
• Hand gloves
• Helmet/ headgears
• Body vest/ protector
• Groin and female guards
• Arm/shin guard
Optional Safety Gears
• Body armor
• Elbow pads
• Mouthpiece
13. Competitor Dress Code
All competitors must complete with proper uniforms representing your school and organization. Uniforms must
have logo/symbol of your club, school or organization. Participants are not allow to wear jeans and maong
shorts.
Standard Uniform
- Red or black loose pants
- White or black t-shirts
14. Awards and Certificate
Awards will be presented immediately at the end of the tournament. Special awards will be given to 1st, 2nd and
3rd placed

School Submission
	 The schools listed teach Filipino martial arts, either as the main curriculum or an added curriculum.
	 If you have a school that teaches Filipino martial arts, or you are an instructor that teaches, but does not
have a school, list the school or style so individuals who wish to experience, learn and gain knowledge have the
opportunity.

    October 06-07, 2012 Barangay183 Gymnasium, Villamor Pasay City, Philippines The aim of the said tournament is to enrich the National Sport and encourage Arnisadors to a friendly competition by participating in this kind of tournament and to measures what they’ve learned in practicing Arnis it is also included the measurements of one’s self discipline and sportsmanship. Organizing a tournament will open a door for each Kali/Arnis practitioner to test their knowledge and ability on defending their selves, wining or loosing will teach them important lesson , acceptance and determination to learn furthermore not to give up and be discourage. It also served as a dry run for the PNU Arnis Team (including Alumni members) to partici- pate in the tournament not by playing but in improving their skills in officiating actual Arnis matches. A number of teams from different parts of NCR participated. Most coming from Metro Manila but as well as teams from as far as Bulacan Master BAX had also exclaimed that his only aim in organizing this event is to support our National Government in the dissemination of the Republic Act 9850 Declaring Anis as the National Sports and Martial arts of the Philippines.

    Sports Arnis, Kali,Eskrima Tournament Ground Rules Summary Philippine Copy Right 2012 By: Ronaldo S. Baxafra & Jessielyn N. Baxafra No parts of this tournament ground rules should be reproduce and or distributed without the written permission of the author The tournament and event organizers, promoters and directors reserve the rights to change and or modi- fy the rules as necessary in order to preserve the safety of the participants, tournament/staff and spectators. The primary objectives of the organizers, is to promote excellent F.M.A. in the spirit of good competition, brother- hood and preserving the lineage of the Filipino Martial Arts. 1. Code of Conduct Honor, respect, brotherhood are expected from all participants, coaches, instructors, tournament officials/staff and spectators. Inappropriate behavior and language may result immediate disqualification of match, tourna- ment and or expulsion from event premises. You will be held responsible from your actions, representing your instructor, teammates, school and organization. 2. Photography/and Video The Public including the participants, coaches and instructors are allowed to photograph and video any matches and events upon approval of technical committee. In case your photographer/videographer causes destruction and delaying of the match, your player will automatically penalized of disqualification. 3. No Refunds, Non–Transferable and No Alternate Participants There will be no refunds issued for any payments received. No exceptions. Completed and paid registration will not be transferable. 4. Entry Limited of entries as per design/advise of the organizers in every tournament/divisions(s). (See tournament format) Registered Officials participants cannot have an alternate or fill in if they are no show or late reporting to their division(s). Name will be call three times (3x) during division call. 5. Check-in/Weigh-in Participants MUST report and be physically present during roll call of divisions. Weight MUST not exceed to the desired limit and may be necessary re-weigh upon questionable acts of any groups 6. Sports Weapon Sponsored/endorsed only by the Organizer (padded stick) shall be used in any tournament sanctioned by the Organization/alliance tournaments. Official sports weapon will be supplied. 7. Scoring All matches will be judge by three (3) judges in every court and one (1) center referee (elimination), majority decision of the judges to get a point optional from 7- 9 points deficit means win by superiority. Points are regis- tered upon confirming of at least two or majority of the judges for the strikes that have a clean /clear technique, power and accuracy. There will be a one minute thirty seconds (1.30 seconds) per rounds best of 2 for (elimina- tions) in case of tie sudden death may apply for the extension and two minutes (2 minutes) per rounds for the (championship). Optional time by the organizer can be adjusted to one minute every rounds in case of large number of participants. Most accumulated points will determine the winner after the eliminations and champi- onships. Center referee is the only person in the ring who can give penalty, additional points, or stop the fights in any instances. 8. Legal Points • Strike to front, side, or top of the headgear • Strikes to weapon arm or hand • Strikes to upper and lower extremities • Strikes to the body and shoulders 9. Penalties and Disqualification No verbal warning will be given upon disqualification. Tournament Rules must be reviewed and understood by all competitors before the competition day. There will be a competitors/tournament staff meeting to review the rules before the start of the competition. • Penalties may include but not limited to the following: - Striking illegal target - Stepping out of the playing area during the match - Disregarding referees command and instructions - Blatant, malicious and dangerous actions - Disregarding safety 10. Illegal Targets and Prohibited Moves • Boxing, punching, kicking or kneeing • Grappling or wrestling • Pro long Holding of sticks or holding any part of the opponents body • Thrusting to the neck areas • Groin strikes • Head butting • Throwing, takedowns or foot sweeps • Strikes to the back (head, body, neck) • Foul inappropriate language • Spitting to your opponent Five (5) Penalties/ Foul Maximum Applied to the Whole Match • 1st foul-already penalty • 2nd foul- already penalty • 3rd foul- warning for additional point/ already penalty • 4th foul- additional point to the opponent • 5th foul- disqualification Three (3) Disarms Applied in Every Round • 1st disarm – additional points to the opponent • 2nd disarm- additional points to the opponent • 3rd disarm – opponents wins 11. Fight Time Each round will run for (1) one minute optional to (1 ½) one and a half or (2) minutes. No time outs will be called by the competitor or coach. There will be (10) TEN seconds between each round (time for the coach to give instructions). Time will stop unless center referee call stops time for the following reason/s. Only the ref- eree can start and stop the fights • Injury of the player in the match • Issuance of foul/penalties • Replacement of broken weapon/ gears • End of round/ match 12. Sparring Safety Gears For the safety of the participant they can use their own safety protectors as approved by the center referee and the organizing committees. Sports arnis safety gears shall be used: • Hand gloves • Helmet/ headgears • Body vest/ protector

Competitor Dress Code All competitors must complete with proper uniforms representing your school and organization. Uniforms must have logo/symbol of your club, school or organization.
