Here are the key points about alternative optimizing models:
- Some models assume firms optimize an objective other than short-run profit maximization, such as sales revenue maximization, long-run profit maximization, or maximization of growth rates. These allow firms to consider longer time horizons.
- Other models assume firms are owned/managed by multiple individuals/groups with potentially different objectives (e.g. shareholders want profits but managers want growth). The firm's behavior reflects bargaining between these groups.
- Still other models assume firms face uncertainty and aim to optimize subjectively defined expected utility or satisfaction of objectives rather than precisely defined mathematical functions. This allows for attitudes to risk.
So in summary, alternative optimizing

It is important to understand the commercialization potential of an emerging technology before taking any business decision. The degree of commercialization of a technology, especially emerging technologies can be measured based on different parameters like market information, finance, Intellectual Property. Patent information can be considered as one of the good source for assessing the level of progression of technologies from invention to commercialization phase. In this talk, different correlations based on patent bibliographic data will be presented with case studies carried out in different technology fields.
General Shopping Brasil provides a summary of its 3Q10 earnings. It discusses positive trends in the Brazilian economy including declining unemployment and growing real income. Retail sales growth remains strong year-over-year across various sectors. The company provides an overview of its diversified growth strategy including greenfield developments, expansions, and acquisitions. It has grown its total GLA significantly through these initiatives. The presentation concludes with details on selected assets within its portfolio.
This document discusses an initiative by Industreams Ltd to explore better ways of working with and gaining value from volatility in port and infrastructure investments. It acknowledges that precise forecasting is limited and payoffs are distributed over a wide range rather than single points. It introduces exploring a "payoff function" approach to understand how business model factors translate market variability into payoff outcomes. A case study demonstrates how understanding this can substantially shift a project's potential payoff distribution through options that limit downside risk and increase upside potential. The goal is to embrace variability and create robustness and upside in asset values through the payoff function.

Compound Hood Assignment
We have an 8’ by 4’ hopper grate which is used for shakeout in a foundry. The details in the pieces we are casting prevent the use of a totally enclosed ventilation system, so we will design a side draft hood. The side draft hood will control the release of silica from the shells and protect the breathing zone of our employees, while still allowing access to the work during shakeout.
We will need two figures to calculate the ventilation requirements for a side draft shakeout hood. First refer to the figure titled “Foundry Shakeout Side Draft.” This was figure VS-20-02 in older editions of the text. If your text has different nomenclature, go to the index in the back of the book, look up ‘Foundry” and under “Foundry” find ‘Shakeout.”
In the bottom left hand corner you see the statement, “See VS-20-01 for exhaust rates.” Figure VS-20-01 is for enclosed shakeout ventilation, not side draft, but we still must look there to find out how to calculate Q.
We see in the table in figure VS-20-01, the third row is for a “side hood” and refers to VS-20-02. Assume we have cool castings. We see for the side hood and cool castings, we require 350 CFM to 400 CFM per ft2 of grate area. (Page 2-3)
1. What is our grate area in square feet, ft2?
Assume we select 400 CFM / ft2.
2. What is the required volume flow rate, Q?
We now return to figure VS-20-02, which shows the actual compound hood we desire to design. In the upper left corner we see the face of our hood, in the direction of air flow. It shows about 15 vertical slots. It also describes that these slots must be made with moveable panels so that they may be opened or closed. By adjusting the width of these slots after the system is in operation, we can control the flow of exhaust air and make sure we had the desired distribution to capture our contaminant. We also see that our hood must be 1.5 times as long as our grate. Remember our grate was 8 feet long by 4 feet wide. In this diagram, L stands for the greater dimension of our grade (8 ft in this example), and W stands for the lesser dimension (4 ft in this example).
3. How wide must we make our side draft hood?
We see right below the diagram of the hood face, that the velocity through openings (meaning the slots) must be at least 2,000 FPM (feet per minute).
4. Using the Q calculated in question 2, what is the total surface area required for the slots?
You based on this calculation of total slot area, you would determine the number of slots required. This would require some professional intuition. The number of slots and their arrangement cannot just be calculated. You would then each slot accordingly.
In the center of figure VS-20-02, near the bottom, we see “Minimum duct velocity = 4000 FPM.” This tells us the duct transport velocity must be 4,000 FPM (feet per minute) or greater. As with the simple duct, we use the Q calculated above, and this transport velocity calcul.
Financial Market Assumptions & Models for Pension PlansAnkur Dadhania
This document provides a technical comment on the financial market assumptions used in the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's Pension Insurance Modeling System (PIMS). It discusses some of the key capital market assumptions in the model, including the assumptions around expected returns for different asset classes and the assumed asset allocations of insured pension plans. The document suggests that the model could be improved by incorporating time variation in both financial market return behavior and observed plan asset allocations, based on evolving industry trends. It notes that understanding the implications of changes to the assumptions would require directly modifying the assumptions in the PIMS model.

The main purpose of this study is to determine what are the main factors which stand behind the diversity in performance of business services measured by their contribution to growth in the EU Member States. We show that in addition to typical growth factors which enhance labour productivity, also the extent of interconnectedness of business services with upstream industries is important to explain service-based economic growth.
The analysis yields two interesting results. Firstly, the authors show that patterns of industrial interconnectedness of business services are considerably diversified across the EU Member States indicating large differences in the integration of services as supplier with other sectors on a country level. Secondly they show that the diversified growth performance of business services across the EU25 countries can be explained by differences in labour productivity and differences in forward linkages.
The results indicate the fundamental role of business services as the main engine of growth in the European economy. This service-based growth is channelled mainly through increases in labour productivity and forward interconnectedness of services with downstream industries.
On the policy making level the results indicate that investment in human and intangible capital are crucial for the service-dominated economy as they not only enhance economic growth inside knowledge intensive services but also facilitate transmission of growth impulses to downstream industries by increasing diffusion and integration of services as suppliers of high value added inputs to the economy.

Influence Of French Food On The Food Service IndustrySandy Harwell
The document discusses the influence of French cuisine on the food service industry in the United States. It notes that French food has had a large impact for many centuries due to delicacies like escargots and foie gras. One of the most obvious influences is seen in New Orleans, which was founded by the French and still retains French and Creole influences in its cuisine. However, French food has expanded beyond this and can be found in many different forms across the country due to its popularity and complexity.

This study analyzed the interlinkages between different stock markets. Vector error correction models and Johansen cointegration tests found long run equilibrium relationships between certain markets. Specifically, China was found to influence Australia, BSE, NSE, and Hang Seng was found to influence BSE and NSE. The USA was also found to influence London in the long run. The findings suggest investors can use these interlinkages to help decide whether to invest, hold, or sell positions based on predicted market movements. Caution is still advised as stock markets are highly volatile and risky.

This document discusses the evolution of human resource competencies and roles in India. It outlines how the human resource function has changed over time from a focus on welfare in the early 20th century to an emphasis on human resource management and development starting in the 1980s. The economic reforms of the 1990s placed increased pressure on human resources to help organizations achieve their goals and compete internationally. As a result, HR practitioners in India are now expected to possess new competencies to fulfill evolving role expectations in the changing business environment. However, no prior empirical research has identified the specific new competencies and roles needed for HR professionals to succeed in India. This paper aims to address that gap by exploring the competencies now required of HR managers.
This study compared attitudes toward eco-friendly products between urban and rural consumers in India. A survey was conducted of 400 respondents, examining attitudes toward various dimensions of eco-friendly products like raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, use, and disposal. The results showed that while gender did not significantly impact attitudes overall, females had a more favorable attitude than males toward proper disposal of products. Urban residents also had a more favorable attitude than rural residents toward raw materials, packaging, and disposal. In general, the study found that urban people were more conscious of and had a more positive attitude toward the various aspects of eco-friendly products compared to rural people.
1. The document discusses changing values in human resource management (HRM) and an alternative approach of integrated personal development.
2. It notes that globalization, competition, and technological innovation have shifted economies and work to be more knowledge-based, requiring new skills beyond traditional personal development methods.
3. The authors propose that an integrated approach to personal development, addressing areas like neuro-linguistic programming, energy psychology, and humanistic theories, provides a useful alternative for developing the skills needed to manage human resources in a global context.
This document discusses consolidation in the banking industry and the resulting human resource (HR) challenges. It begins by providing context on the increasing consolidation in the banking sector through mergers and acquisitions. This is done to create larger, stronger banks that can better withstand financial shocks. However, consolidation also presents significant HR challenges. It can lead to differing perspectives among merged workforces, issues with cross-cultural integration between banks with different cultures, and challenges with talent assimilation and re-skilling employees from different banks. The document argues HR managers have an important role in communication, orientation, and training to help address these challenges and ensure a smooth consolidation process.
This document discusses establishing industry-driven business education through academia-industry partnerships. It argues that business schools and industry need to work more closely together given changing business needs. Industry can help orient business education by providing input on curriculum, giving guest lectures, participating in executive programs, and offering internships and projects to help students gain practical skills. Stronger collaboration is important to develop talent that benefits both academia and industry.

This document summarizes research on the effect of corporate branding on industrial and organizational purchasing. It contains the following key points:
1. Corporate branding plays an important role in industrial and organizational purchasing by influencing various stakeholders in the purchase process and helping the brand remain top of mind.
2. The purchase process for industrial products is more rational and involves various roles approving specifications, soliciting quotes, technical analysis, and selecting the lowest bidder while the brand subtly influences each stage.
3. For repeat purchases, strong corporate branding builds confidence and ensures the brand is re-purchased by delivering on past performance and meeting specifications. Modifying specifications may also lead to re-purchasing the same brand based on prior experience
The article discusses the challenges faced by middle management who are caught in the crossfires of top management and lower management. Middle management receives directives from top management and passes them to lower management, but this can lead to blame from both sides. Top management may bypass middle management and blame them for failures. As a result, middle managers often experience frustration, low morale, and career dilemmas. The study found a relationship between middle management challenges and negative outcomes for managers and organizational performance. Further research is needed to improve organizational design and reduce conflicts among management levels.
This document discusses several contemporary issues in accounting, including accounting for price level changes, valuation of human resources, accounting for intangible assets, and brand accounting. It notes that there are multiple accepted methods for addressing these issues, which can lead to a lack of comparability between companies. Specifically mentioned are the general purchasing power method versus current cost accounting for price changes, and various cost-based and market-based approaches to valuing intangible assets and brands. The document also briefly defines and discusses the concept of "creative accounting," where companies may manipulate accounting figures and financial reporting to manage earnings and suit their own needs.
This document provides information about Volume 15, Issue 2 of the Academic Studies National Journal of Jyoti Research Academy published in July-December 2022. It includes the editorial board members and details of 8 research papers published in this issue. The research papers cover topics in various disciplines like linking endometriosis and breast cancer, composting of market waste, self-leadership in organizations, preservation of culture in folktales of Tripura, and exposing the traditions of indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh through poetry. The journal aims to encourage multidisciplinary research and provide a platform for knowledge sharing.
This article discusses the effect of corporate branding on industrial and organizational purchasing. It analyzes how brands influence various stakeholders in the purchasing process, from those who initiate purchases to decision makers, gatekeepers, and end users. The influence of brands is explored for different purchasing situations like new tasks, straight re-buys, and modified re-buys. Strategies are recommended for organizations to strengthen their brand building, including establishing points of entry, personalized integrated marketing, leveraging the brand's lifespan, and developing brand intimacy. The article concludes that brands play an important role in aiding recall and influencing purchasing decisions in business-to-business contexts.
Global HR skills and competencies are becoming increasingly important as globalization continues. The article discusses several key global HR skills that are important for multinational companies, including cross-cultural communication skills, cultural awareness, flexibility, and change management skills. It also outlines important global HR competencies such as openness, contextual thinking, and the ability to adapt quickly. Global leaders need to develop cultural literacy to understand differences and leverage diversity. HR professionals must help organizations and individuals develop skills for a global business environment.
This document summarizes a research article that studied the effect of corporate branding on industrial and organizational purchasing. It finds that brands play an important role in business-to-business purchasing across different situations:
1) In "new task" purchases, brands influence initiators, influencers, decision makers, and users in recommending preferred brands during the specification and bidding process.
2) In "straight re-buy" purchases where customers repeatedly purchase the same item, strong brands that deliver on promises of quality and performance influence customers to keep repurchasing that brand.
3) In "modified re-buy" purchases where specifications change slightly, powerful brands from past positive experiences can persuade customers to purchase that brand for
This document summarizes research on the effect of corporate branding on industrial and organizational purchasing. It contains the following key points:
1) Corporate brands play an important role in business-to-business (B2B) purchasing decisions, influencing factors like recall, comparisons, specifications, and relationships between buyers and sellers.
2) In new purchasing tasks, corporate brands that are top-of-mind are often included in initial specifications. In straight re-buys, past brand performance builds confidence. In modified re-buys, brands must convince buyers that requirements can still be met.
3) Multiple stakeholders are involved in B2B purchasing including initiators, influencers, decision makers, and users.
This document discusses shifting paradigms in strategic customer relationship management (SCRM). SCRM systems must do more than just track customer interactions - they must analyze information, spot trends, and enable sales forces. Next-generation SCRM integrates customer data throughout the entire organization, from sales and marketing to engineering and operations. It provides benefits like improved communication, identifying key accounts, and turning data into actionable insights. SCRM must be designed around collaboration and information sharing across departments to facilitate real-time customer insights. Today's approach to innovation and value creation is driven by customer co-creation and intimacy, requiring SCRM solutions to manage broader customer relationships and interactions.
The document discusses the issue of unemployment among technical students in India. It finds that 60% of technical students lack the skills required by industry. Engineering graduates often take clerical or banking jobs instead of jobs requiring their technical skills due to gaps between their education and industry needs. Reasons for this skills gap and unemployment include a lack of proper training, career guidance, fundamental knowledge, teaching quality, and industrial exposure in their education. The document examines unemployment rates in India by year and argues stronger coordination is needed between technical education and industry to address the unemployment problem.

The document discusses the relationship between customer relationship management (CRM) and consumerism. It argues that CRM, when practiced fully, can help address issues that lead to consumerism. Specifically, it notes that CRM involves making customers the central focus of all business activities in order to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty. In contrast, consumerism arises when customers exercise their rights due to poor product or service performance. The document concludes that CRM, as a marketing strategy compared to consumerism, can be a more financially viable approach for businesses if executed professionally.
1) The document discusses a study comparing attitudes of males and females as well as urban and rural consumers towards environmentally friendly products in India.
2) The study found no significant difference in attitudes between males and females except for after-use features, where females had a more favorable attitude.
3) Urban consumers had a more favorable attitude overall towards environmentally friendly products compared to rural consumers, particularly regarding raw materials, packaging, and after-use features.
This document discusses the need for pragmatic human resource (HR) initiatives in banks in India following deregulation and liberalization. It notes that early economic reforms focused on financial options rather than HR, but that HR is now crucial for competitiveness given globalization and technological changes. The document examines key HR issues that emerged for banks post-liberalization, like lack of skilled employees and outdated productivity norms. It argues HR initiatives must be aligned with environmental factors, determine skills needed for new challenges, reallocate resources efficiently, cut costs through outsourcing, and develop a marketing culture. A pragmatic HR approach is necessary for banks to adapt and survive increasing competition in the changing market.
This document discusses environmental accounting and reporting. It begins with an introduction stating that balancing environmental protection and economic development is important for developing countries. It then provides an overview of the development of social accounting and corporate social responsibility, with an emphasis on environmental accounting, reporting, and existing reporting scenarios. The key points made are:
- Environmental accounting refers to accounting that includes environmental goods and services. It aims to measure the environmental impacts and costs of economic activities.
- The objectives of environmental accounting include better management of environmental costs, more accurate product/process costs, and identifying opportunities to minimize environmental costs.
- Benefits include reducing compliance and operating costs, aiding strategic decision making, and gaining competitive advantages through improved environmental

Vicinity Jobs’ data includes more than three million 2023 OJPs and thousands of skills. Most skills appear in less than 0.02% of job postings, so most postings rely on a small subset of commonly used terms, like teamwork.
Laura Adkins-Hackett, Economist, LMIC, and Sukriti Trehan, Data Scientist, LMIC, presented their research exploring trends in the skills listed in OJPs to develop a deeper understanding of in-demand skills. This research project uses pointwise mutual information and other methods to extract more information about common skills from the relationships between skills, occupations and regions.
OJP data from firms like Vicinity Jobs have emerged as a complement to traditional sources of labour demand data, such as the Job Vacancy and Wages Survey (JVWS). Ibrahim Abuallail, PhD Candidate, University of Ottawa, presented research relating to bias in OJPs and a proposed approach to effectively adjust OJP data to complement existing official data (such as from the JVWS) and improve the measurement of labour demand.

FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of designing & implementing a framework of
a systematic approach to analyse the profit or loss of investors. The invention mainly
focuses on analyzing the profit or loss during the economical fluctuations.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[0001] Background description includes information that may be useful in
understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the
information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed
invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior
art.
[0002] Economic fluctuations are simply fluctuations in the level of the national
income of a country representing growth or contraction. A market economy is
not static and it’s dynamic. A rise in national income means an economy is
growing, while a decline in national income means that an economy is
contracting.
[0003] A number of different types of return-on-investment analysis systems
that are known in the prior art. For example, the following patents are provided
for their supportive teachings and are all incorporated by reference.
[0004] We augment a standard monetary DSGE model to include a banking
sector and nancial markets. We t the model to Euro Area and US data. We and
that agency problems in nancial contracts, liquidity constraints facing banks and
shocks that alter the perception of market risk and hit nancial intermediation —
4. 4
‘nancial factors’ in short — are prime determinants of economic fluctuations.
They have been critical triggers and propagators in the recent nancial crisis.
Financial intermediation turns an otherwise divisible source of idiosyncratic
economic uncertainty, the ‘risk shock’, into a systemic force.
[0005] There are various factors that are responsible for booms or dips of an
economy. It includes labor shortages, an increase in consumption, a rise in the
level of government spending and a balance of payments surplus etc. The
proposed invention focuses on analyzing the return on investments along with
profit or loss of an organization during the period of economic fluctuation.
[0006] Above information is presented as background information only to assist
with an understanding of the present disclosure. No determination has been
made, no assertion is made, and as to whether any of the above might be
applicable as prior art with regard to the present invention.
[0007] In the view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types
of return-on-investment analysis systems now present in the prior art, the present
invention provides an improved system. As such, the general purpose of the
present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to
provide a new and improved system to analyse the gain or loss of investors
during the fluctuation of economy that has all the advantages of the prior art and
none of the disadvantages.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0008] In the view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types
5. 5
of return-on-investment systems now present in the prior art, the present
invention provides an improved one. As such, the general purpose of the present
invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a
new and improved system to analyse the fluctuations in economy during
situations like pandemic which has all the advantages of the prior art and none
of the disadvantages.
[0009] The Main objective of the proposed invention is to design & implement
a framework of machine learning to analyse the profit or loss of an organization.
The invention aims at studying the profit or loss especially during economic
fluctuations.
[0010] Yet another important aspect of the proposed invention is to analyze the
transactional data sets of organization to study the factors that are responsible
for their profit or loss. The economic fluctuation is the primary attribute for
analyzing the possibilities of gain or loss for a particular organization. The
predictive algorithm of machine learning is used to predict the profit or loss
factor.
[0011] In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the
invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its
application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the
components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the various
ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology
employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded
6. 6
as limiting.
[0012] These together with other objects of the invention, along with the various
features of novelty which characterize the invention, are pointed out with
particularity in the disclosure. For a better understanding of the invention, its
operating advantages and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference
should be had to the accompanying drawings and descriptive matter in which
there are illustrated preferred embodiments of the invention.
BREIF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0013] The invention will be better understood and objects other than those set
forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following
detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed
drawings wherein:
Figure 1 illustrates the block diagram of a systematic approach to analyse the
profit or loss factor of investors during fluctuation of economy, according to the
embodiment herein.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
[0014] In the following detailed description, reference is made to the
accompanying drawings which form a part hereof, and in which is shown by
way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be
practiced. These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those
skilled in the art to practice the invention, and it is to be understood that the

7. 7
that structural and logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit
and scope of the present invention. The following detailed description is,
therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense, and the scope of the present
invention is defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
[0015] While the present invention is described herein by way of example using
several embodiments and illustrative drawings, those skilled in the art will
recognize that the invention is neither intended to be limited to the embodiments
of drawing or drawings described, nor intended to represent the scale of the
various components. Further, some components that may form a part of the
invention may not be illustrated in certain figures, for ease of illustration, and
such omissions do not limit the embodiments outlined in any way. It should be
understood that the drawings and detailed description thereto are not intended to
limit the invention to the particular form disclosed, but on the contrary, the
invention covers all modification/s, equivalents and alternatives falling within
the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
The headings are used for organizational purposes only and are not meant to
limit the scope of the description or the claims. As used throughout this
description, the word "may" be used in a permissive sense (i.e., meaning having
the potential to), rather than the mandatory sense (i.e., meaning must). Further,
the words "a" or "a" mean "at least one” and the word “plurality” means one or
more, unless otherwise mentioned. Furthermore, the terminology and
phraseology used herein is solely used for descriptive purposes and should not
8. 8
be construed as limiting in scope. Language such as "including," "comprising,"
"having," "containing," or "involving," and variations thereof, is intended to be
broad and encompass the subject matter listed thereafter, equivalents, and any
additional subject matter not recited, and is not intended to exclude any other
additives, components, integers or steps. Likewise, the term "comprising" is
considered synonymous with the terms "including" or "containing" for

articles and the like are included in the specification solely for the purpose of
providing a context for the present invention.
[0016] In this disclosure, whenever an element or a group of elements is
preceded with the transitional phrase "comprising", it is understood that we also
contemplate the same element or group of elements with transitional phrases
"consisting essentially of, "consisting", "selected from the group consisting of”,
"including", or "is" preceding the recitation of the element or group of elements
and vice versa.
[0017] As an economy grows, businesses and consumers spend more money on
goods and services. In the growth stage of an economic cycle, demand typically
outstrips the supply of goods and producers can raise their prices. As a result,
the rate of inflation increases. The economic fluctuations model is employed by
academic, government and private economists such as changes in monetary
policy rules, tax and spending changes.
[0018] There are three key facts about economic fluctuations that stand out: i>
9. 9
Economic fluctuations are irregular and unpredictable, ii> Most macroeconomic
measures fluctuate together and iii> as the output falls unemployment rises. The
proposed invention focuses on analyzing the systematic approach of profit or
loss of an organization. The algorithms of machine learning is used for
predicting the possible loss or profit during economic fluctuations.
[0019] Reference will now be made in detail to the exemplary embodiment of
the present disclosure. Before describing the detailed embodiments that are in
accordance with the present disclosure, it should be observed that the
embodiment resides primarily in combinations arrangement of the system
according to an embodiment herein and as exemplified in FIG. 1
[0020] Figure 1 illustrates the block diagram of a systematic approach to analyse
the profit or loss factor of investors during fluctuation of economy 100. The
proposed system 100 includes a Database of transactions of an organization 101.
The ROI 102 is considered along with 101 and fed as input to the prediction unit
104 after systematically analyzed by the ML unit 103. The results of predictive
unit 104 is stored on storage device 105, which is used for further analysis and
conclusions.
