It provides information on key concepts like error budgets, service level indicators (SLIs), and burn rate. It also offers advice on implementing error budgets, including getting support, measuring what's important to users, and using burn rate alerts. Main takeaways are using short and long windows for burn rate alerts with a 1/12 ratio, and not overcommitting to prevent exceeding the error budget.
The document describes TomTom's dynamic routing technology which uses identical software both on-board in vehicles and off-board to continuously calculate and update the fastest routes based on real-time traffic conditions, finding better routes than traditional methods and saving users time on their journeys. It allows for fast replanning of routes, dynamic routing that searches for better options, and previewing the best route in advance using a "routing time machine".
APAS is a software service that generates predicted arrival times for package deliveries based on telemetry data from carriers and other resources. It uses GPS data, delivery activities, distances, and predictive heuristics to calculate arrival times with different confidence levels. The service has an architecture that includes collecting and processing telemetry data via data flows, managing carrier routes and stops, and providing predictions to end users through an analysis filter service.
This thesis discusses real-time monitoring and delay management of a public transport information system. It aims to improve an existing system called BusOnAir1 by developing BusOnAir2, which features a fully time-expanded model supporting delays, real-time tracking of buses, and multi-day schedules. Performance is also improved by caching graph data structures for faster querying. Future work includes developing more efficient models and improving security and user interfaces.
This document discusses open public transport data from a vehicle-centric perspective. It describes different types of public transport data including vehicle internal data, infrastructure data, and transportation data. Combining these data sources can improve data quality and support predictive analytics. Real-time vehicle tracking is discussed, including challenges with direct GPS sampling. An alternative method of aggregated tracking with raw GPS reference and space-time polygonal chains to model vehicle journeys is proposed. The document also introduces the concept of "toxels", which are space-time building blocks for efficiently modeling transport data at a high level of detail.
Transport-as-a-Service (TaaS) - How we build next generation plug-and-play IT...Christoffer Vig
The digitalization of everyday life, where the average bus passenger would rather ignore the surroundings and stare blankly into his phone for snapchat updates, creates great opportunities for digitalization of public transport, as well as some challenges. Ruter, Norway’s largest public transport authority, is putting significant effort into improving digital services for customers. However, the current technology stack behind Ruter's operations, is not able to provide the necessary real-time information.
In this talk I will explain how Ruter is participating in the development of new European standards for information technology for public transport (ITxPT), and how Apache Kafka and Kafka streams serve as the core components in building "Transport-as-a-Service".

MLS An Efficient Location Service for Mobile Ad Hoc Networkskga185
MLS is an efficient location service for mobile ad hoc networks that allows nodes to efficiently lookup the location of other nodes despite concurrent node mobility. MLS uses a hierarchy of location servers where each node maintains location pointers to servers in exponentially increasing areas. Lookup routing overhead is close to optimal at O(d) where d is the distance between nodes, and amortized publish cost due to mobility is O(d log d). Temporary forwarding pointers are used to support concurrency and repair lookup paths when nodes move between server areas. Simulation results show MLS can support maximum node speeds of up to 1/15 of the underlying routing message speed.
Automobile Route Matching with Dynamic Time Warping Using PySpark with Cather...Databricks
According to data compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2016, an average of ~100 people were killed in automobile accidents every day in the United States. Agero, a market leader in software-enabled driver assistance services, has responded to this growing problem with a breakthrough consumer app that provides near real-time driver behavior analysis and actionable insights to its users on how to become safer drivers.
As part of this effort, we have developed a methodology to identify the most frequent routes that each driver travels by applying Dynamic Time Warping time-series analysis techniques to spatial data. In this talk, we will give a high-level overview of the methodology, and discuss the performance improvement achieved by transitioning the software from stand-alone Python into PySpark + Databricks.
Discussion points will include how to determine the best way to (re)design Python functions to run in Spark, the development and use of user-defined functions in PySpark, how to integrate Spark data frames and functions into Python code, and how to use PySpark to perform ETL from AWS on very large datasets.

It also provides brief descriptions of the goals and outline of the chapter, which covers transport layer services, multiplexing, UDP, TCP, and congestion control.
This document discusses instruction pipelining in processors. It begins with an introduction that defines pipelining as breaking down operations into sequential stages that can overlap execution. An example is given of pipelining laundry tasks to complete work more efficiently. The document then explains how instruction execution in computers lends itself to pipelining by separating tasks like fetch, decode, and execute into distinct stages. A six-stage instruction pipeline and timing diagram are presented. Advantages of pipelining include more efficient use of resources and faster execution for large programs. However, pipeline hazards like structural, data, and control hazards can cause problems if not addressed properly.
This document summarizes a freight journey planning presentation. It discusses a freight journey planner that routes vehicles based on factors like date, time, vehicle dimensions, and restrictions. The planner provides routing options to drivers via connected satnav applications. It also offers a testing platform and routes gateway for operators to access routing data and customize solutions. The presentation concludes by providing contact information for PIE Mapping, the company behind the freight journey planning tools.
The document provides information about a chapter on the transport layer from the textbook "Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach". It contains notes for slides on transport layer services and protocols. Key points include:
- The transport layer provides logical communication between application processes on different hosts using protocols like TCP and UDP.
- TCP provides reliable, in-order delivery of data through mechanisms like sequencing, acknowledgements, flow control, and congestion control.
- UDP is a simpler "best effort" protocol that does not guarantee delivery or order but has lower overhead.
- Multiplexing and demultiplexing allow multiple applications to share transport layer ports to communicate through a single connection.

IBM InfoSphere Streams is a scalable stream processing platform that can be used to build real-time intelligent transportation systems. It allows processing of both structured and unstructured data streams from multiple sensors in real-time. The stream processing is done through a data flow graph of streaming data objects and processing elements using the SPADE processing engine. A pilot project in Stockholm used InfoSphere Streams to monitor current traffic by comparing real-time GPS data to historical data to estimate travel times and compute shortest paths, providing visualizations to end users. The system was able to process over 1,000 GPS readings per second from various vehicles.
OFDM is a digital multi-carrier modulation scheme that divides the available bandwidth into multiple orthogonal subcarriers. It converts a high-rate data stream into multiple lower-rate streams that are transmitted in parallel over narrowband channels. OFDM has advantages for high data rate transmission in delay dispersive environments and is used in technologies like DAB, DVB, wireless LANs, and 4G cellular systems. It works by splitting information into parallel streams that modulate distinct subcarriers. The subcarriers are chosen to be orthogonal to avoid interference between signals. OFDM can be implemented digitally using the IDFT/DFT, which makes it simpler and more efficient than analog implementations.
We walk through the steps of building an application with Grakn. We will begin with how to construct a model of the scenario, moving on to talk about how to use reasoning to reach concrete insights, and go further to use Analytics for a deeper understanding of the dataset.
Finally, we will show the specific usefulness of Grakn for applications in planning, logistics and operations, as we create a journey planner to get us from A to B across the London Underground.

9. Bus at Bus Stop?
▪ So ...
• Project real GPS to route
• Obtain distance to beginning of the route
• Find the right interval using distance comparison
▪ We have precalculated at load time
• Route and Bus Stops geometry
• Distance from every Bus Stop to beginning of the route
▪ Configuration parameter: distance to Bus Stop
10. Time in interval
▪ But ...
• Time at the interval will be the average with existent
value
• Smooth “anormal” values
▪ Bus it’s at Bus Stop N
• if we find it at Bus Stop N-1
• Time difference => time at the interval
▪ Configuration parameter: max difference time considered
11. The city alive
▪ The time per interval will be continuously adjusted
12. Howto get the ETA?
▪ Search the bus “backward” from the Bus Stop
▪ Accumulate the times per interval
▪ When we find it => return position and time
▪ Parameters
• Bus Stop
• Bus Line(s)
▪ Optimization: matrix with the accumulated to every pair (i,j) on a route
▪ At any change, recalculate to the end of the route
