The goldfish Jerry exerted force to jump into the neighboring fish bowl filled with other goldfish. Jerry was lonely in his empty fish bowl and imagined an aggressive friend named Gary who tormented him. During one of Gary's chases, Jerry jumped bowls and was relieved to discover Gary was just a product of his loneliness and imagination. Jerry was happy to be with other fish and no longer needed to imagine friends.

The goldfish exerted so much force to jump into the bowl next to it filled with other
goldfish. He definitely wanted to get to the other bowl, but why? Maybe he was lonely or that
was his family in the other bowl. Or maybe the goldfish, Jerry, was finally running away from his
fears and taking a leap of hope. A leap that would cure his unhealthy mind and give him the
peace he had been searching for, day in and day out, in his empty fish bowl. But was that fish
bowl really empty? Oh no, for it was filled with the horrors of his imagination that he created in
hopes of being less lonely. The fish in the other bowl always wondered why they saw him
swimming violently like he was trying to get away from something, but they just thought he was
getting his exercise. Poor Jerry was actually swimming away from something, and that
something was Jerry’s imaginary “friend” Gary.
Gary was an interesting fellow, full of adventure and charisma, but Gary had a dark
sense of humor. Gary always thought it would be so fun to discuss with Jerry his fantasies of
ruling all the fish bowls of the world by the wave of his fin. But not in a pleasant way. Gary was
a violent fish as well and liked to imagine himself having fish slaves and soldiers that would
abide by his rule or else die by the ever dreadful cat named Mittens. Gary always threatened
Jerry to do as he said regardless of the consequences and Jerry didn’t dare go against Gary’s
word until one day. Jerry had enough of the torment and daily chases by Gary that during one
of these chases, he exerted enough force to jump out of the fish bowl into the next one with all
his fish family. When Jerry looked back at his previous bowl, he noticed that Gary was not

2. there. Jerry was so filled with joy and happiness that he got away from his fears and torment of
his own mind. Gary was only a figment of his imagination brought upon by the sadness and
loneliness of being stuck in a fish bowl by himself. Jerry wanted a friend but Gary was far from
the ideal friend that Jerry wanted. Jerry was finally content with his life being with friends and
family that Gary or any other imaginary friend was never created again by Jerry’s previously
unhealthy mind.
