Represent noncitizens in their applications for relief from removal before the Immigration Court in Boston,
MA. Argue bond motions for detained clients, conduct direct examinations of witnesses, raise evidentiary
objects and argue points of law. In preparation for hearings, research and write motions and memoranda of
law, gather documents in support of applications for relief from removal, interview witnesses, draft
affidavits and research human rights issues in the countries of removal. Prepare applications for benefits
under the immigration laws and represent noncitizens in their interviews for such benefits before the local
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office. Conduct “Know Your Rights” presentations for the
immigrant communities in Rhode Island and for noncitizens who are detained by the Immigration and
Customs Enforcement in the Bristol County House of Corrections in North Dartmouth, MA. Conduct intake
interviews following these presentations and provide consultations under the supervision of a faculty
member.
