TAKE THE HIGH ROAD
Student Activity Center
By: Zach Rice and Michael Gossler
TAKE THE HIGH ROAD IS AN AFTER
SCHOOL PROGRAM.
WORKING HAND IN HAND WITH
THE SCHOOLS.
• In addition to being an after school program, Take the High Road will work
hand in hand with the school and keep track of how the students are
performing in the classroom.
• At Take the High Road, school comes first and then students are rewarded
with fun.
WE WILL PROVIDED MENTORS AND
TUTORS FOR THE STUDENTS
BENEFIT
WE WILL PROVIDE CHILDREN WITH
A FREE MEAL.
ITS OPEN FOR KIDS WHOSE PARENTS
ARE WORKING OR BUSY SO THEY HAVE
SOMETHING TO DO
WE WILL BE WORKING HAND IN HAND
WITH THE SCHOOL TO INSURE GOOD
GRADES.
WE WILL STRIVE TO KEEP KIDS OUT
OF TROUBLE AND OFF THE STREETS
IN HOPES IT’LL TRANSLATE TO THEIR
ADULT LIVES.
OUR MAIN FOCUS WILL BE KIDS WHO
LIVE BELOW THE POVERTY LINE
WE WILL FOCUS ON KIDS BETWEEN THE
AGES OF 11 AND 15 BECAUSE THEY ARE
EASILY INFLUENCED. THIS IS THE STAGE
WHERE THEY BEGIN DEVELOPING GOOD
OR BAD HABITS.
• Statistically, kids below the poverty line are more likely to start developing
bad habits do to the lack of access to everyday basic needs.
• If we can catch these individuals early, we have a better chance of correcting
those bad habits and getting them back on the right to track.
• Also, sometimes juveniles are around people who influence them to do these
things when they are away from school, we will provide a place that is free
from these things.
OUR PROGRAM WILL RUN YEAR
ROUND.
• During the school year we will be having it every day after school and provide them
a place to get extra help with their homework, as well as a friendly ear to talk to and
a place to hang out.
• They can hang out with their friends and work on homework until their parents are
done with work.
• We can provide rides to the kids who need a ride home as well if they cannot get a
ride.
• During the summer we will have activities available every other day and hold indoor
and outdoor sports and activities.
• The indoor activities will be close unless supervised but outdoor things such as
basketball court and football field will be open to the public at all times.
HOW WILL KIDS FIND OUT ABOUT
US?
• Take the high road will post fliers at school and also have the school post daily
announces on our behalf.
FINANCES
• For money we will apply for federal grants and grants through the school to help
pay for our activity center.
• Also, we will help around the community and fundraise for the rest of it.
• We also hope that the local schools will help provide funds because we are working
with them and helping their students.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR
SUPPORT!
