There is action at the beginning of the trailer implying that this is what it is like
throughout the film. The soundtrack in the background is building tension which
suggests to the audience that something is about to happen. There is pleonastic
sound of people screaming which exaggerates the fear from the civilians. The
trailer has rapid transitions during the fighting and action scenes which builds
more tension. The music slows and quietens as the protagonist gets captured by
the antagonists. This can make the audience feel sorry for him. Slow motion is
used to emphasis what is going on. They have used editing to put in many
transitions of blackouts. The trailer shows a flashback and uses high key lighting to
show he was in a happier place compared to the low key lighting showing him in a
bad place.

At the start of the trailer there are shots with his family and the music creates an
emotional atmosphere. There is a mid shot of the main character laying down. It shows
a flashback of him dreaming about his family. A mid shot is shown of him looking lost
when his family is not there. The music then changes and starts to build tension as it
shows him looking ready to start fighting. The character is shown looking like he is from
years ago and then it suddenly changes to a more modern age. It shows a mid shot of
him holding a sword on fire and then a long shot of a room filled with guns. This shows
how his life has changed.
When he goes back to the dream world, everything
changes back to no technology. He is told to get his act
together and he then looks modern again. The next shot is
a long shot which is shown him attacking a creature. There
is an establishing wide shot of lightning and dark clouds,
this suggests something bad is going to happen. The use of
titles explains to the audience what is happening.
4. In The Heart of the Sea

There are mid shots and long shots of people looking happy on the ship suggesting that they are
having a good time and everything is okay. It shows a long shot under the water of the sea
creatures which is lurking beneath. After it shows a long shot of him throwing a spear at one of
the sea creatures. As the main character promises his wife he will come back okay it then
starts to go wrong. There is a high angle establishing wide shot showing the ship in the middle
of the sea. The high angle makes the huge ship look small and vulnerable in the middle of the
sea. The creature is shown to be powerful as it pushes the ship and smashes it. It then shows a
long shot of a man washed up on a beach and struggling. There is an extreme long shot of dark
clouds and a storm which causes havoc for the ship. A birds eye view shot is shown of three
ships and the sea creature they are being attacked by is bigger than the ships put together.
This shot shows the audience how much of a problem they are in.
There are no signs of the sailors giving up as they keep going
back to fight the mythical creature. The last shot is a close up
of the main character holding a spear while looking at the
creature. This was similar to earlier in the trailer when he was
killing sea animals.

There Is an establishing wide shot of the location where the film is set at the start of
the trailer. The film is based in old times as shown by the costumes and props of the
weapons. The use of CGI makes the film a fantasy. There is a blue eye which is an
important part of the film, they use a bright blue colour to make this stand out.
There are black servants standing around the main antagonist who is in flames. The
flames suggest how dangerous he is.
The use of sound builds tension before the action is shown. A voiceover is talking
about the army he has. There is then a longshot of a big statue that has come to life.
This proves his army is strong and that he is ready to fight. A mid shot of one of the
main characters is shown him putting his torch into the air. This shows he is ready to
fight and is going to attack them. The use of dark lighting makes suggests to the
audience someone is in danger. The protagonists are proven to be courage and brave
as they take on two huge snakes.

At the start of the trailer there is a shot of people being shot while at a
funeral. They indicated to the audience that he in an antagonist as he is
wearing all black. The music starts to build tension as the action is drawing
closer. The man dressed in black is killed and there is silence. A birds eye
view of the little girl makes her look small and vulnerable. The antagonist is
looking for her and she is the reason the man is in this mess.
A flashback from the man is shown of him looking lost as he is carrying his
child. A close up of his shows her looking confused and shocked. This
suggests he had a bad experience in the past and is doing anything to help
this girl. A mid shot of the antagonist is shown with a red background behind
him. This represents danger and blood implying to the audience something
bad is going to happen. There is dark lighting during a mid shot of the young
girl carrying a gun. This makes her look evil and shows how the man is
desperate for help as he asks her to help him. This also shows how much he
wants to protect her.
