Disney
Information
and History
Disney was born on December 5, 1901, at 2156
N. Tripp Avenue in Chicago's Hermosa
community area to Irish-Canadian father Elias
Disney and Flora Cal Disney, who was of
German and English descent. His great-
grandfather, Arundel Elias Disney, had
emigrated from Gowran, County Kilkenny,
Ireland where he was born in 1801. Arundel
Disney was a descendant of Robert designee,
a Frenchman who had travelled to England
with William the Conqueror in 1066. With the
designee name anglicized as "Disney", the
family settled in a village now known as
Norton Disney, south of the city of Lincoln, in
the county of Lincolnshire.
Disney was particularly noted as a film producer and
a popular showman, as well as an innovator in
animation and theme park design. He and his staff
created some of the world's most well-known
fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, for
whom Disney himself provided the original voice.
During his lifetime he received four honorary
Academy Awards and won 22 Academy Awards from
a total of 59 nominations, including a record four in
one year, giving him more awards and nominations
than any other individual in history. Disney also won
seven Emmy Awards and gave his name to the
Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme
parks in the U.S., as well as the international resorts
like Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Hong
Kong Disneyland.

Toy Story
History behind the film
 Toy Story is a 1995 American computer-
animated family buddy comedy film produced
by Pixar and directed by John Lasseter.
Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, Toy Story
was the first feature-length computer-animated
film and the first film produced by Pixar. Toy
Story follows a group of anthropomorphic toys
who pretend to be lifeless whenever humans
are present, and focuses on the relationship
between Woody, a pullstring cowboy doll (Tom
Hanks), and Buzz Lightyear, an astronaut action
figure (Tim Allen). The film was written by John
Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Joel Cohen, Alec
Sokolow, and Joss Whedon, and featured music
by Randy Newman. Its executive producer was
Steve Jobs with Edwin Catmull.

Key Jobs:
Producer
 During the "discovery stage" the
producer has to find and
acknowledge promising material.
Often a producer must then retrieve
the film rights or an option. If the
rights owner is worried about
preserving the integrity, voice and
vision of his/her work, the producer
might have to comply with a variety
of demands concerning the
screenplay, the film director, the
casts or other topics.
Director
 A theatre director has responsibility
for the overall practical and creative
interpretation of a dramatic script or
musical score, taking into account
the budgetary and physical
constraints of production. They are
involved at all stages of the process,
from the design and pre-production
stages and rehearsal right through
to the final performance.
Every writer and teleplay begins with an
idea, and screenwriters use those ideas
to write scripts, with the intention of
selling them and having them produced.
The majority of the time, a film project
gets initiated by a screenwriter and
because they initiated the project, the
writing assignment exclusively becomes
his or hers. These are referred to as
"exclusive" assignments or "pitched"
assignments.

TV Industry
In its early stages of development, television
employed a combination of optical,
mechanical and electronic technologies to
capture, transmit and display a visual image.
By the late 1920s, however, those employing
only optical and electronic technologies
were being explored. All modern television
systems relied on the latter, although the
knowledge gained from the work on
electromechanical systems was crucial in the
development of fully electronic television.
History
TV Shows
Television program (television
programme in the United Kingdom),
also called television show, is a
segment of content intended for
broadcast on television. It may be a
one-time production or part of a
periodically recurring series.
A television series that is intended
to comprise a limited number of
episodes is usually called a
miniseries or serial. Series without a
fixed length are usually divided into
seasons or series, yearly or semi-
annual instalments of new episodes.
While there is no defined length, US
industry practice tends to favour
longer seasons than those of some
other countries.

 Ofcom has wide-ranging powers
across the television, radio, telecoms
and postal sectors. It has a statutory
duty to represent the interests of
citizens and consumers by promoting
competition and protecting the public
from harmful or offensive material.
Some of the main areas Ofcom
presides over are licensing, research,
codes and policies, complaints,
competition and protecting the radio
spectrum from abuse.
History
 The creation of Ofcom was
announced in the Queen's
Speech to the UK parliament in
June 2001. The new body, which
would replace several existing
authorities, was conceived as a
"super-regulator" to oversee
media channels that were
rapidly converging through
digital transmission.
My Favourite TV Shows
What more can I possibly say about a TV show that has
already been praised to death? I was 15 when the
Simpsons first aired and I'm 25 now. I've seen every
single episode, and I'd have to say it's a rare
combination of factors that come together to make The
Simpsons the best show ever.
I've watched all the episodes, then watched them again on
disc as they came out. This is a show I felt was worth owning
and having to watch the full series over and over again every
other year or so. Absolutely LOVE these characters (all of em;
the boys, the girls, their coworkers and friends, and their
relatives) and how they interact with each other. Their
problems are real and the ways they find to deal with them
(solved or not) are wonderful. ------ I wait all week on pins and
needles just to see what's happening next. ----- If this show
continues for another ten years, I'll still be right there
watching it all and waiting impatiently for next weeks'
episode. The only bad thing I can say about this show is that
there is only one new episode each week -- I'd love to see
three or four each week (though I know that would put an
unreasonable load of work on the staff of the show, actors
and writers alike ... people do have lives to live outside of the

  • 3. Disney Information and History Disney was born on December 5, 1901, at 2156 N. Tripp Avenue in Chicago's Hermosa community area to Irish-Canadian father Elias Disney and Flora Cal Disney, who was of German and English descent. His great- grandfather, Arundel Elias Disney, had emigrated from Gowran, County Kilkenny, Ireland where he was born in 1801. Arundel Disney was a descendant of Robert designee, a Frenchman who had travelled to England with William the Conqueror in 1066. With the designee name anglicized as "Disney", the family settled in a village now known as Norton Disney, south of the city of Lincoln, in the county of Lincolnshire. Disney was particularly noted as a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most well-known fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, for whom Disney himself provided the original voice. During his lifetime he received four honorary Academy Awards and won 22 Academy Awards from a total of 59 nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual in history. Disney also won seven Emmy Awards and gave his name to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the U.S., as well as the international resorts like Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

  • 8. Key Jobs: Producer  During the "discovery stage" the producer has to find and acknowledge promising material. Often a producer must then retrieve the film rights or an option. If the rights owner is worried about preserving the integrity, voice and vision of his/her work, the producer might have to comply with a variety of demands concerning the screenplay, the film director, the casts or other topics. Director  A theatre director has responsibility for the overall practical and creative interpretation of a dramatic script or musical score, taking into account the budgetary and physical constraints of production. They are involved at all stages of the process, from the design and pre-production stages and rehearsal right through to the final performance. Every writer and teleplay begins with an idea, and screenwriters use those ideas to write scripts, with the intention of selling them and having them produced. The majority of the time, a film project gets initiated by a screenwriter and because they initiated the project, the writing assignment exclusively becomes his or hers. These are referred to as "exclusive" assignments or "pitched" assignments. • 12. In its early stages of development, television employed a combination of optical, mechanical and electronic technologies to capture, transmit and display a visual image. By the late 1920s, however, those employing only optical and electronic technologies were being explored. All modern television systems relied on the latter, although the knowledge gained from the work on electromechanical systems was crucial in the development of fully electronic television. History
  • 13. TV Shows Television program (television programme in the United Kingdom), also called television show, is a segment of content intended for broadcast on television. It may be a one-time production or part of a periodically recurring series. A television series that is intended to comprise a limited number of episodes is usually called a miniseries or serial. Series without a fixed length are usually divided into seasons or series, yearly or semi- annual instalments of new episodes. While there is no defined length, US industry practice tends to favour longer seasons than those of some other countries.

  • 17. My Favourite TV Shows What more can I possibly say about a TV show that has already been praised to death? I was 15 when the Simpsons first aired and I'm 25 now. I've seen every single episode, and I'd have to say it's a rare combination of factors that come together to make The Simpsons the best show ever. I've watched all the episodes, then watched them again on disc as they came out. This is a show I felt was worth owning and having to watch the full series over and over again every other year or so. Absolutely LOVE these characters (all of em; the boys, the girls, their coworkers and friends, and their relatives) and how they interact with each other. Their problems are real and the ways they find to deal with them (solved or not) are wonderful. ------ I wait all week on pins and needles just to see what's happening next. ----- If this show continues for another ten years, I'll still be right there watching it all and waiting impatiently for next weeks' episode. The only bad thing I can say about this show is that there is only one new episode each week -- I'd love to see three or four each week (though I know that would put an unreasonable load of work on the staff of the show, actors and writers alike ... people do have lives to live outside of the
