Fidel Ramos was the 12th President of the Philippines, serving from 1992 to 1998. He was born in 1928 in Lingayen, Pangasinan and graduated from West Point in 1950, fighting in the Korean War and serving 37 years in the AFP. Ramos initially supported President Marcos but shifted to Corazon Aquino in 1986 after Marcos' regime fell, and was later elected President in 1992 with the narrowest margin in Philippine history, implementing the Philippines 2000 program to accelerate the country's development.
