3. What is the FIA?
The word FIA is short for the French phrase “Fédération
Internationale de l'Automobile” which is the international
automobile federation in charge of all types of motor
racing.
4. The start of
the FIA
The AIACR (Association Internationale des
Automobile Clubs Reconnus) was founded in Paris on
20 June 1904, as an association of national motor
clubs. The association was designed to represent the
interests of motor car users, as well as to oversee the
burgeoning international motor sport scene. Upon
the resumption of motor racing after the Second
World War, the AIACR was renamed the Fédération
Internationale de l'Automobile. The FIA established
several new racing categories, among them Formulas
One and Two, and created the first World
Championship, the Formula One World Drivers'
Championship, in 1950.

10. Indianapollis 500
The Indianapolis 500, also formally known as the Indianapolis
500-Mile Race, or simply the Indy 500, is an annual automobile
race held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) in Speedway,
Indiana, United States. The event is traditionally held
over Memorial Day weekend, usually the last weekend of May.
11. 24 Heures du Mans
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is an endurance-focused sports car
race held annually near the town of Le Mans, France. It is the
world's oldest active endurance racing event. Unlike fixed-
distance races whose winner is determined by minimum time, the
24 Hours of Le Mans is won by the car that covers the greatest
distance in 24 hours. Racing teams must balance the demands
of speed with the cars' ability to run for 24 hours without
mechanical failure.
12. F1 Monaco Grand Prix
The Monaco Grand Prix is a Formula One motor racing event
held annually on the Circuit de Monaco, in late May or early
June. Run since 1929,the race has been held on a narrow course
laid out in the streets of Monte Carlo, Monaco with many
elevation changes and tight corners as well as the tunnel, making
it one of the most demanding tracks in Formula One. It is the only
Grand Prix that does not adhere to the FIA's mandated 305-
kilometre minimum race distance for F1 races.
13. The 2022 ban
of Russia and
Belarus
In response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIA banned Russia
and Belarus teams, and banned the holding of competitions in Russia or
Belarus. It also excluded Russian and Belarusian FIA members from their roles
as elected officers or commission members, it also banned FIA grants to
Russian and Belarusian members. Individual Russia and Belarus competitors
were allowed to enter races as neutrals, without their national symbols, flags,
colors, and anthems.
