This document provides an overview of feudalism in medieval Japan and key rulers. It describes a hierarchical social structure where emperors were at the top and granted land to shoguns and daimyos in exchange for loyalty and military service. Shoguns and daimyos then employed samurai warriors to defend their lands. Ninjas served as spies, gathering information on the numerous daimyos and samurai throughout Japan to assist their shogun masters. Students are instructed to work in pairs, moving between information posts to read about and summarize the various rulers and samurai families.
