2. Features of Pilot Episodes
• A pilot episode is an independent episode or the first episode of a series which will
introduce the audience to the characters, settings and the world of the series. It will
make the audience want to continue watching and give them a taste of what's to come,
without giving anything away.
• Pilot episodes must include four aspects; the premise which is the plot and what the
show is; characters; the structure of the series and the hook of the show. Including
these would create a good pilot episode.
• The pilot episode is created to engage its audience with the series and tempt them to
continue watching to find out what's going to happen with the characters they've met
and the story that they've been introduced to.
