The Transitions Program
IS NOW
2. Now students and their families dealing with
anxiety disorders finally have a comprehensive
program dedicated to helping them cope with their
anxiety and ultimately return to a traditional school
setting – The Transitions Program.
A REAL Choice for South Jersey...
REAL Needs... REAL Benefits... REAL Solutions...
Transitions Program
Continuum of Services
Students with anxiety disorders have become a silent
minority. Many times students with anxiety disorders are
overlooked because students acting out with behavior
problems are more visible and demand more immediate
attention. Home instruction is one option that districts
provide for anxious students. It does not, however provide
the social skills necessary to help a student successfully
remain in the school setting. While individual counseling
can be helpful, it is often not enough to help a student
return to school. Sadly, studies show that the longer a
child remains out of school and on home instruction, the
more difficult it becomes for the child to return to a
school setting.
The Transitions Program is the only program in South
Jersey dedicated to students with anxiety disorders that
prevent them from participation in a school district
setting. Not only will Transitions Program equip students
with real ways to control his or her anxieties, it will enable
them to receive the education and the support they need
to become successful, thriving, independent citizens.
Transitions offers a flexible educational and
therapeutic program for school avoiding students
and their families, including full and half day
options. The program consists of academic and
emotional support for students who need to return
to school. Additional alternatives are also available
to assist students in returning to district programs.
