Saritsa Foundation organized disaster management workshops from August 8-11, 2011 for students, staff, and employees of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology in Bhopal, India. Over 600 participants received education and training on emergency response through mock drills and scenario analyses. The objectives were to develop local leaders who could raise disaster awareness in their communities and encourage public participation in governance. Saritsa Foundation aims to empower vulnerable groups through capacity building so communities can better prepare for and respond to disasters.
