This document summarizes a study that traced food waste throughout the supply chain. It analyzed data on food waste from production to consumption in over 20 countries over multiple years. The study aimed to identify patterns and trends in food waste to help assess environmental impacts, quantify amounts wasted, save costs, ensure food security, and inform policy. Key findings included that export, post-harvest, and retail stages accounted for the most waste, food waste increased dramatically in 2022, and Australia and New Zealand had particularly high levels of food waste. The document also lists elective courses related to reducing environmental impacts, supply chain analytics, and analyzing food systems.
