Scenic Hudson is offering a unique way to experience the power of working farms.
Join the Poughkeepsie Journal and Scenic Hudson staff on a cycling tour through the
beautiful, rolling countryside, passing by farmland preserved by Scenic Hudson and the
families that farm those lands. Riders will have a chance to energize with fresh donuts,
cider and apples courtesy of local farmers. Riders will also enjoy a free post-ride lunch with
live music and are invited to chat with the Poughkeepsie Journal staff about the event, the
environment and anything else that’s on their mind.
This is a free program. Space is limited; reservations are required.

The voucher and pur-
chase order forms have
been updated and rewrit-
ten, and the board has re-
viewed policies to be-
come more familiar with
them, Andrews said.
Hughsonville’s trea-
surer has also been in-
structed to be more dili-
gent when demanding in-
voices and, while the nec-
essary quotes were
obtained, documentation
of them could be better,
according to the fire dis-
trict’s official response to
the state.
“As far as we’re con-
cerned, (the audit) was a
positive process because
not only were the inci-
dents uncovered minor,
but (the state) gave us a
wealthofinformationand
suggestions on how to
better run the district,”
Andrews said.
The all-volunteer dis-
trict’s 2013 budget was
about $809,000, the state
reported.
