Welcome to the LEARN 10 Family!
Welcome new families! We are excited to have you and your scholar(s) join our campus. This is
a brief guide that can help you become familiarize with our school quickly. Please refer to your
Code of Conduct: Parent and Student Handbook for more detailed policy and regulations that
may not be covered in this guide. Feel free to contact our office if you any questions. Welcome
to the LEARN 10 Family!
LEARN 10 Charter School History
In 2016, LEARN 10 took over the old Yeager Elementary School building in North Chicago and
are currently serving students from K-5th grade. LEARN 10 will continue to expand by adding
one new grade level each school year. The campus has 13 classrooms, about 24 teachers and
close to 200 students. As part of the LEARN network, LEARN 10’s mission is to provide
children with the academic foundation and ambition to earn a college degree.
School Procedures
School Hours: Our regular school hours are from 8: 15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. There is an early
dismissal on every Wednesdays at 2:45 p.m. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria starting at
7:45 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. All scholars who arrive to school after 8:15 a.m. will be marked tardy.
Please refer to the Parent and Student Handbook for more information about our attendance
policy.

Transportation: Bus service is available for scholars who live within 5-10 miles radius from the
school. LEARN contracts a third-party transportation company to provide this free service for
our eligible scholars. Please contact our office manager, Sandra Rojas for more information.
Pick-up/Drop-off: As staff and scholars’ safety is our top priority, parents who will be driving
their scholar(s) to school must adhere to our speed limit and instruction regarding pick-up and
drop-off points. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the designated visitors parking
as well as the pick-up/drop-off areas. A copy of the pick-up/drop-off route diagram is available
in our office.
School Communications
LEARN 10 is always committed to maintaining an open line of communication with parents and
families. Parents are welcome to access information regarding scholar’s progress and
achievement through PowerSchool, which provides information about grades and attendance.
LEARN 10 also sends a weekly newsletter which provides reminders or events information to all
families in the form of an email. We also share information via our school website and social
media account (Facebook). In the event of an emergency such as school closing due to inclement
weather, parents will receive a notification via email, phone, website or from our social media
account.
Volunteer or PTO
LEARN 10 does not currently have an active PTO. Families or parents who are interested in
starting one are welcome to schedule a meeting with our principal for further instruction. Parents
or families who wish to volunteer in classrooms may contact the teacher directly. Those who
wish to volunteer for school events may contact the office manager.

Community/School Partnership
To maintain a strong community and school partnership, LEARN 10 encourages parents and
families to establish a collaborative relationship with school staff members. We also encourage
parents to become active participants in all school-related activities and events. It is also
beneficial for families and parents to set a clear and consistent procedure for homework and
study activities that will support your scholar’s learning experience. Finally, we believe that all
school staff members and families should serve as positive role models for our scholars.
