The village of Ulumbu in Manggarai, Indonesia was home to a blind man and paralyzed man who lived separately and relied on each other. One night, the blind man dreamed of an old grandmother who asked what he wanted to eat. When he replied that he wanted soft porridge, hot water suddenly burst from the earth, destroying the village and killing the two men. The next morning, villagers returning from an event found the village covered in hot water. Some who looked back at the destroyed village from a hill turned to stone. To this day, the stone figures and hot springs that destroyed Ulumbu exist as a reminder of the fairy tale.
