Editor's Notes

  • #21 Abstract: A large body of literature both in psychology and economics addresses the relationship between external reward and intrinsic motivation and their effect on performance. A deep analysis of the literature highlights two main streams of research. The first stream which is mostly conducted by psychologists focuses on the effect of external reward on intrinsic motivation. While, the second stream mostly conducted by economists focuses on the effect of external reward on performance. In this study, we attempt to integrate these two streams of research by examining the effect of intrinsic motivation, external reward, and their interaction on performance.
  • #22 - She was featured on the cover of the February 2012 issue of Industrial Engineer featuring her article titled, “Engineers who make a difference: closing the waiting gap”, which discusses her research in the area of improving scheduling for hip and knee procedures.
