EAA 2014 session: Open Access and Open Data in Archaeology
Istanbul, Turkey
13 September 2013
Charles University has taken steps to increase open access, including adopting open access policies in 2013 and 2017. The Central Library coordinates open access activities and most faculty libraries have open access librarians. Journals published through Karolinum Press, the Faculty of Arts Press, and the Faculty of Education Press are all open access. An institutional repository is planned to replace the current DigiTool repository for open access publications. By 2020, Charles University aims to have an open access librarian in each faculty library and require open access for all university-funded projects. The vision is for a non-mandatory institutional open access policy and increased support for open access through funding and legal assistance.
The University of Warsaw Library is located in Warsaw, Poland. It was founded in 1816 and is the main library of the University, containing over 2.9 million items in its collection. The modern library building opened in 1999 consists of two parts - a front commercial section and the main four-story library building with a total area of 60,000 square meters, 40,000 of which are for the library. The library provides resources and spaces to support research and learning, including a large reading room, open stacks, and over 1,000 computer workstations with access to electronic materials.
This document discusses the Gertrud-von-le-Fort-Gymnasium school library in Oberstdorf, Germany. It provides details about the school, which has 500 students from Germany and Austria, including 80 young athletes. The school library has 30,000 volumes, including 500 English and French books. It is staffed by a librarian and supported through funding from the state of Bavaria and the municipality of Oberstdorf. Younger students regularly use the library, while older students prefer the internet for research, but visit for specific needs. It outlines the current library system and some of its challenges, including declining book lending and growing influence of the internet. The proposed new model shifts the focus from the collection to the user and their information needs. It involves mapping information needs, using the collection as a tool rather than the goal, creating a library community, and utilizing internet tools. The model changes both the front and back office operations of the library. It has been implemented in 38 libraries in one Belgian province and generated interest from other areas.

Librarians are leading the way in creating future-ready citizens – now we need to update our spaces to match. In this session, attendees will get inspiration for transforming their library spaces. You’ll learn how to survey students and patrons, create a focus group, and use design thinking to brainstorm ideas for your space. We’ll discuss budget friendly ways to change your space as well as how to find funding. No matter where you’re at, you’ll find ideas for reimagining your space in this session.
This document provides an overview of wound healing, its functions, stages, mechanisms, factors affecting it, and complications.
A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
