New research from UC-Berkeley shows that taking a nap can boost brain power and improve the ability to learn new facts by up to 40%. The study found that sleeping twice in a 24 hour period helps to refresh the mind. According to the lead researcher, napping not only remedies the negative effects of prolonged wakefulness, but can enhance cognitive performance beyond pre-nap levels. These findings were presented at the AAAS annual meeting in San Diego.
