Richard Silva is a renowned Fresno artist known for his unique mixed media style and friendly personality. Born in 1939 to immigrant parents from Portugal, Silva dropped out of high school to work various jobs saving money for art school. At age 30, he enrolled in the Academy of Art in San Francisco, though he initially struggled and considered quitting. His professor Joan Brown encouraged him to continue, and he went on to study at the San Francisco Art Institute. Silva finds inspiration in each moment and believes in constantly improving his art. After overcoming heart attacks, he now has a successful studio in Fresno, exceeding all expectations from his early struggles.
