This document discusses the development of automated vehicles and their potential widespread adoption. It summarizes several articles that suggest fully automated cars without drivers may be available for purchase within six years. Vehicle design will change to accommodate different speed limits in urban vs. rural areas. Highly automated cars could become dominant in the market relatively soon. The document also outlines the branding and social media strategy for an automated vehicle called ProgRes.
Defending Commoditization: Mapping Gameplays and Strategies to Stay Ahead in ...Cory Foy
One of the goals of agility is to be able to respond rapidly to market change. But do you feel prepared to wake up to a product announcement from Amazon disrupting your entire business? Would you know what steps to take?
Instead of being worried, we can get mapping! Wardley Mapping, coined by Simon Wardley, is a way of understanding markets and components in a way that allows us to visualize and anticipate change in markets - and develop strategies and gameplays for how we can respond to them.
This session uses several real-world cases of work with organizations to map their landscape and show the strategies and gameplays that allowed them to reshape where they were headed - and allow you to understand your organization’s market and how you can think about features and product direction.
Samsung has no choice but to go flexible.Dawson Hun
Samsung foldable AMOLED display is secretly show-off at CES 2014. Why didn't they show it publicly?
Samsung seriously consider flexible as their next goal however they seem to have some problem make that goal public.
But what’s the problems of Samsung?

Social Networking: Should it be more about Relationship Building than Selling...Mary S. Butler
Presentation deck for today's (Oct. 15, 2009) Social Networking panel at the J.D. Power Automotive Internet Roundtable.
A large number of the car dealers now on Facebook and Twitter use their status updates to list inventory. However, the real value in joining these social networks may be the opportunity to create relationships with both customers and colleagues alike.
This panel covered:
• OEMs and dealerships who are using social networks effectively
• Opportunities to build relationships with current customers and potential rewards (increased visits for service, referrals, etc.)
• Advantages of connecting with fellow dealers (information sharing/collaboration, etc.)
Panelists:
- Christopher Barger, Director of Social Media, General Motors (@cbarger and @GMblogs)
- Jared Hamilton, CEO and Founder, Drivingsales.com (@drivingsales)
- Tom Chisholm, Midwest Sales Director, Facebook

5 Autonomous Cars Trends Everyone Should Know About In 2019Bernard Marr
Autonomous cars are coming. Even if we might not have completely self-driving cars on all our roads by 2019, there are some important trends that map out the path of autonomous driving. Here we look at the key ones.
A future beyond traffic gridlock - Bill FordAlicia Garcia
Bill Ford is a car guy -- his great-grandfather was Henry Ford, and he grew up inside the massive Ford Motor Co. So when he worries about cars' impact on the environment, and about our growing global gridlock problem, it's worth a listen. His vision for the future of mobility includes "smart roads," even smarter public transport and going green like never before.
In 2019 voice will become less about “I want to know” and more about “I want to do”. This will usher in a new era of smart, personalized, omnipresent assistants accessible via multiple devices and in multiple languages and may truly mean the age of touch comes to an end! My session will explore different ways of having a dialogue-based interaction through voice that will gives brand an important opportunity to redefine their proposition using completely new variables. This encourages them to get creative and think outside of the box to make full use of the voice assistant experience.
The app revolution has turned consumer expectations upside down in all areas of our lives, including in the cars we drive. Our connected cars are already filled with computing power and experiences influenced by consumer electronics. Forward-looking car makers have the pedal to the metal on further innovation. There's an undeniable conceptual shift from the connected car to the programmable car. Nascent consumer electronics thinking is evolving to include platform business models borrowed from the world of apps and the web.
Join Brian Mulloy live from downtown Detroit as we imagine the programmable car of the future and map a pragmatic course for making it a reality. Car makers will walk away with an approach to evolving the automobile to meet the demands of today's consumers. App developers will walk away with a view of upcoming opportunities to create inspired apps for cars.
We'll Cover:
Apps - creating precise and adaptable consumer experiences
APIs - exposing and consuming cloud-based services
Data - gleaning insights from infotainment and smartphone apps
Ecosystems - creating value for multiple sides of the car market
As Europe's leading economic powerhouse and the fourth-largest hashtag#economy globally, Germany stands at the forefront of innovation and industrial might. Renowned for its precision engineering and high-tech sectors, Germany's economic structure is heavily supported by a robust service industry, accounting for approximately 68% of its GDP. This economic clout and strategic geopolitical stance position Germany as a focal point in the global cyber threat landscape.
In the face of escalating global tensions, particularly those emanating from geopolitical disputes with nations like hashtag#Russia and hashtag#China, hashtag#Germany has witnessed a significant uptick in targeted cyber operations. Our analysis indicates a marked increase in hashtag#cyberattack sophistication aimed at critical infrastructure and key industrial sectors. These attacks range from ransomware campaigns to hashtag#AdvancedPersistentThreats (hashtag#APTs), threatening national security and business integrity.
🔑 Key findings include:
🔍 Increased frequency and complexity of cyber threats.
🔍 Escalation of state-sponsored and criminally motivated cyber operations.
🔍 Active dark web exchanges of malicious tools and tactics.
Our comprehensive report delves into these challenges, using a blend of open-source and proprietary data collection techniques. By monitoring activity on critical networks and analyzing attack patterns, our team provides a detailed overview of the threats facing German entities.
This report aims to equip stakeholders across public and private sectors with the knowledge to enhance their defensive strategies, reduce exposure to cyber risks, and reinforce Germany's resilience against cyber threats.
Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.
Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
