Formula 1 is the highest class of single-seater auto racing governed by the FIA. The first F1 race was held in 1946 and the championship was formalized in 1947 when Italian Giusppe Farina won the first title. Modern F1 races take place on various international circuits around the world and involve qualification rounds to determine starting positions, with the final race being around 305 km. Points are awarded to the top 10 finishing drivers in each race, with the driver and constructor with the most total points at the end of the season winning the respective championships. F1 has a huge global audience of around 600 million viewers per race.
