The document discusses the concept of hybridity in everyday life. It states that hybridity means a mixture of two races or cultures. It then provides examples of how everyday life in cities today is a hybrid of both local and global influences. No pure local culture exists in cities anymore. Everyday aspects of life like food, clothing, entertainment, language, and fashion are all hybrid mixtures incorporating global and local elements. Contemporary everyday life demonstrates how the global and local are blended together through cultural exchange and appropriation.

USING EMPATHY & ARCHITECTURE TO CREATE A NEW LIVING ORDER
An ethnographic study of life & living in Suburban mumbai through in-home observations & interactions. This e-book has been inspired by the hundreds of visits we have made, working on projects in suburban Mumbai. It is a nuanced understanding of the home buyer and the socio-cultural forces that operate amidst the household and make the home what it is. Bringing empathy and deep consumer understanding to the practice of architecture has given us new insights and provided new dimensions of understanding the end user of our designs.
Speculative residential architecture most often considers several codes and factors other than the end-user who is making the project their new home â the City Development control rules, the economics and cost-benefit ratios, the square footage to be consumed, or to be parcelled and sold, the marketing spiel. Here we have tried to look at another set of criteria that will help architects build houses that empathize with the family that will convert them into their home.
We hope that this e-book paves the way for a new discussion that the entire fraternity needs to have. A discussion on life, living and the subconscious needs that drive a family to move to a better quality of life. This book is especially useful for architects, interior designers, builders and marketers who are in the business of providing a better life to families across the city.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Â
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
