I attended Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) for my undergraduate program. My program was a bachelorâs in liberal arts: General Studies. The program outcomes are located at https://www.snhu.edu/online-degrees/bachelors/ba-in-general-studies.
A general studies degree allowed me to bring over credits that I had earned earlier in life, while allowing me to focus on my area of concentration. The program outcomes included learning how to apply critical thinking into the areas of study that were of interest. It provided a broad base of courses that I was able to customize to my needs ("General Degree," 2019).
Southern New Hampshire Universityâs mission, vision and goals are as follows âSNHU transforms the lives of learners. Our success is defined by our learnersâ success. By relentlessly challenging the status quo and providing the best support in higher education, SNHU expands access to education by creating high-quality, affordable, and innovative pathways to meet the unique needs of each and every learnerâ ("About Us," 2019, para. 2). The SNHU vision states, âMake the world a better and more just place through our work, one learner at a timeâ ("SNHU Strategic Plan," n.d., p. 9, para.2).  Core values are key to the university, exude passion, challenge the status quo, do the right thing every time, exhibit grit and embrace diversity.

In my experience the university met not only the program outcomes, but it also met itâs mission, vision and core values in my undergraduate program. I was supported by the university, challenged and was offered educational opportunities that were greater than the status quo found at other institutions. The staff and instructors were passionate about the material being taught and always treated me with the utmost respect and when I had concerns or issues with grading or materials they always sought to offer me options that were right for me and my learning disabilities.
Program assessment begins with a clear explanation of the mission, vision, gals and desired learning outcomes of the program. Statements should include what the graduates of the program should know, do and value by the time they complete their studies. The assessment of learning outcomes will help to identify if the program is accomplishing what has benn set to provide and allow for continuous improvement of the program (Banta & Palomba, 2015).

I attended Granite State College for my undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management. The program has since changed the title to Human Resource Administration. As can be seen in many individual programâs outcomes, there is a general failure to tie back to the overall organizationâs mission, vision and goals.

The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesarâs dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empireâs birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empireâs society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
⢠The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
⢠The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate âany matterâ at âany timeâ under House Rule X.
⢠The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. They want everything through their phone.
The Apps for smart phone are plentiful and very sophisticated.Google Mobile App for the iPhone - The application detects the movement of the phone to your ear, and automatically goes into speech recognition mode. It uses its microphone to listen to your voice, and decodes what you are saying by referencing not only its speech recognition database and algorithms, but also the correlation to the most frequent search terms in its search database. The phone uses GPS or cell-tower triangulation to detect its location, and uses that information as well. A search for âpizzaâ returns the result you most likely want: the name, location, and contact information for the three nearest pizza restaurants. All of a sudden, weâre not using search via a keyboard and a stilted search grammar, weâre talking to and with the Web. Itâs getting smart enough to understand some things.
The advancement of the Web and all the related technologies will influence the future of how we work. A recent article inTIME mag. The states work will be more flexible, more freelance, more collaboration across space, run by a new generation with new values and that women will increasedly be in control.
In 2009 it is estimated that 28% of the workforce telecommute either full or part time. This is up 12% from 2000 and will only increase a Internet technology makes working as a team even easier and more productive that ever. They way I work now is radically different than when I was hired in the Department of Animal Sciences to be the Extension Horse Specialist in 1985. I really donât need a physical office space. I can basically work at anytime from any where. Most of what I do is in the Cloud.
The cloud is the term for networked computers that distribute processing power, applications, and large systems among many machines. Applications like Flickr, Google, and YouTube use the cloud as their platform, in much the same way I am using this Mac as the platform to deliver this PowerPoint presentation. Cloud-based applications do not run on a single computer; instead they are spread over a distributed cluster, using storage space and computing resources from many available machines as needed. To the end user, the cloud is invisible; the technology that supports the applications doesnât matter â the fact that the applications are always available is key. Data storage is cheap in these environments â pennies per gigabyte â so cheap that it is often provided in surprising quantities for free.The cloud does have certain drawbacks. Unlike traditional software packages that can be installed on a local computer, backed up, and are available as long as the operating system supports them, cloud-based applications are services offered by companies and service providers in real time. Entrusting your work and data to the cloud is also a commitment of trust that the service provider will continue to be there, even in face of changing market and other conditions. Important to read the Terms of Use for those providers.
Our communities of practice work virtually across geographic and disciplinary lines using the tools and technology that eXtension provides as well as those in the cloud. Our CoPs create content using these tools, participate in social networks using these tools, and conduct Extension work using these tools. All for use by end users.
So how can you get involved? There are many ways. Through social networks, CoPs, or using the eXtension applications.âSocial media is people having conversations online.âIS AN UMBRELLA TERM THAT DEFINES THE VARIOUS ACTIVITIES THAT INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGY, SOCIAL INTERACTION, AND THE CONSTRUCTIONOF WORDS, PICTURES, VIDEOS AND AUDIO.Need to be involved in the communities where your clientele and friends are involved.How many of you have a Facebook account?How many of you IM daily?How many of you have a Flickr account?How many of you have a YouTube account?How many of you have a SlideShare account?How many of you have a Twitter account?How many of you have a eXtensionID?How many of you have a Second Life?I am going to show you how eXtension and our communities are working in Social Networks.
