Understanding a microservices architecture is not simple. It changes over time and can be challenging to onboard new employees. At Hootsuite, we have created a tool and API which allows us to explore, document and debug our architecture. This presentation takes you on a journey about the why, what and how of what we've built. It describes testing the throughput of Hybrid Connections which showed throughput under 3 minutes for 500MB. The final architecture uses multiple Hybrid Connections per client to connect their on-premises systems to Azure services like Exchange and LDAP. Challenges during development included not being able to automate Hybrid Connection provisioning. Azure Relay is presented as an alternative that does not depend on BizTalk but currently lacks integration with App Service and an on-premises manager.
Automated Social Networks Management Tool
This was one of the most challenging and interesting projects we have faced. The client came to us as one of the most reputable social media management developers with a solution he had developed in the past with a friend. It was a Twitter tool that became popular and handled thousands of paying customers. The initial goal was to update it with several new features, but once we started more changes were applied along with a UI redesign. The second version was released as a much more advanced tool with many unique capabilities.
